Will you buy GT5? (POLL)
As much as it sucks that its been delayed, I still think its going to top Forza in the realism department. I've played Prologue and the demo, and Forza 3. Just something about it seems so much more authentic then Forza, from the way it looks, to the ways the cars handle and react. Forza definatly has a few nice bells and whistles (visible car add-ons, storefront), but what sells a sim for me is the physics and I really feel GT has them better then Forza.
" I'm not really a fan of the gt/forza type racing games. I'm a burnout kinda guy. "Here here! :D
Not particularly interested in it, though I can see some fun times in the near future involving GT5, a Logitech G25, a few friends and a fuckton of beer.
This game has taken so goddamned long to make, I'm worried it won't be as good as they're trying to tell me.
Even when this comes out, it'S starting to feel like the Duke Nukem Forever of racing games. It'll never live to the hype for me I think haha.
Also Forza happened since the last GT, so I'm worried that GT5 will be a bit of an antiquity. Especially coming out of Japan, it takes a while for new game design trends to trickle down there, and we'll probably end up with something less intuitive that Forza 3 for example. That game does everything intelligently, it's a really smartly designed game.
Well we'll see. Either way I'll buy it eventually, but I don't think it'll be the one I go back to.
"As a future purchaser, not enough options to answer your poll. "
Yeah, I am at work and It uses IE6 so it does not relay flash well at all, there was meant to be an option for Yes, some day after it's released, if thats your opinion please choose yes.
Sorry that it skipped I must have written over that option.
Well, I'm not going to buy it Day One but I am going to buy it. So I just chose Day One. But that's a poorly planned poll, son. A poorly planned poll.
Probably yes, but not Day 1. I respect the GT series' commitment to realism, but Forza has brought so much in terms of customization, community, and user-friendliness that it's a tough overall package to beat. I'm not sure that GT5 will be able to top Forza 3 in the innovations department.

Heh, Cheers bro, you are the only one to get that right, search Legnum and you'll find it in the database, my contribution to the site :) NZer?
My comment was light hearted, in any case. I forgive you since you're being forced to use Internet Explorer 6. I didn't realize you could even browse the internet with that anymore.Yeah, I am at work and It uses IE6 so it does not relay flash well at all, there was meant to be an option for Yes, some day after it's released, if thats your opinion please choose yes. While I don't own a PS3 currently, even if I do get one someday, there's no chance I'll ever buy a Gran Turismo game. I freaking hate them. It could be GOTY and I still wouldn't get it. It's not my kind of racing game at all, and I'm not really into cars anyway.
Forza's got nothing on GT5. I'm waiting patiently for the best racing sim yet. With all those cars, it's going to have lots of replay value. Polyphony Digital spends a month on each car, and they take lots of photos and videos of real world tracks to make their in game counterparts so much like the real tracks.
C was the closest for me (needed more options). I won't get it reluctantly or indignantly, I will get it enthusiastically (I have 1, 2 3 & 4), but when it is down to about 30% of retail price. Until then, I can enjoy Forza 2 (and PGR3, NFS:MW & Dirt plus many other cheap options already available) and when it is cheaper Forza 3. I never buy car racing games on release as it will still give me just the same amount of fun in 12 months time.
I have seen many threads brought up by a few users denouncing GT against Forza, I don't care, but I thought I might accommodate those dudes, as for them to care as much as they do, they must be getting paid.
I don't see the point in creating a thread bashing a game that isn't out yet, in favour of another game. How can you tell what it's going to be like until you've played it for yourself.
I like those types of games but having Forza 3 AND GT5 and trying to finish both would end my life !!! I am almost done with Forza 3 ( 920/1000 ... 1 achievement left).
I'll do the usual: read a few reviews and hopefully get to see a Quick Look. If they're favorable, I probably purchase that week. If not, I'll hold off for a sale.
I'm not sure, I'll wait and see.
I burned out on GT after the third one. If there's lots of new stuff to do then sure, I'll take a look.
I'm not sold yet.

Oh lord. Why do people always have to start talking about upcoming games as if they've played them? People did that in every other post at GameSpot and now I see it at Giant Bomb. Hopefully, it's a rare occurance here.
Nope, never. I played a lot of GT3 back in the day, but these days all I am interested in are arcade-style racers like Burnout, Split/Second and maybe ModNation Racer. I'm not even interested in another PGR. A racing game has to have something non-traditional for me to take notice these days. This is why I am not interested in Forza, GT or any other traditional racer anymore. Between 5 and 10 years ago, I loved them, but I just don't have the attention span they require these days which is why I need Michael Bay-like explosions in my racing games to keep me engaged.
I'm not the hugest racing fan but I always like to have one around for when I'm in the mood.
I assume by the time GT5 comes out I'll be able to find a copy of Forza 3 for like 19.99 so I'd probably go that route.

I also thought I had a couple of other answers for it as well, but since in IE6 you can't read what you write in creating these polls, (Flash ain't so Flash in IE6) it did not really work.
Most likely not. Even if I'd pick it up, it be the platinum/bargain bin release, certainly not the full price game.
The whole 'Time Attack' demo was extremely horrible. I am not impressed by the looks, the sound and the feel of the game. I was a lot more impressed by Forza 3's demo - which I didn't buy yet either. I got me Need for Speed : Shift though, which I still play from time to time. It's definitly the most visceral driving experience out of the 3 games. NFS : Shift's cockpit view will not be bested by GT5. No way.
If I buy a racing game in 2010, it will be an arcade racer. Realistic racers are sooo 2009. Blur, Split/Second, Criterion's Need for Speed game - you name it.
