SiN :p I played the demo at the time, still want it. I hope it's put out free some time.
Half-Life
Game » consists of 19 releases. Released Nov 19, 1998
Take on the role of Gordon Freeman as he escapes the disastrous aftermath of an experiment gone wrong in the Black Mesa Research Facility.
Half-Life Turns 10; I Feel Old
Now that's a friggin' bargain I couldn't pass up. And it's still fun despite the now ass-tastic graphics.
"Ah...hopefully HL2:Episode Three will be released by the next 10th anniversary."
Word.
I remember when i first saw HL in a mag, i was like lol this game look so dumb, you gotta play some dude with glasses... man i was wrong. I was only 12 at the time... now im 22.... pretty soon i will be in a retirement center playing PS9... lol
I just hope for two things: 1) Half-Life will be re-released in the Source Engine ... I know the Mod-Community is working on that. 2) Half-Life will be released in a complete version on the X-Box 360. I still play this game on the PC ... I love it. The Steam version has several great feature improvement over the original CD version I have from 1998.
It is now Sunday, two days after this post, and HF1 is still only 98 cents on Steam (just picked it up and it is installing as we speak, or read or type, or whatever). Just a heads up for anyone who wanted to pick it up.
Half life was already put on the source engine i own it.

and god no half life on a console sucks balls lame controler ass aiming like all other FPS on xbox.
Wow...It's really hard to imagine that I was playing this game 10 years ago. I didn't pick the game up until Feb. 99.... actually, funny story. I got dumped on the morning of Valentine's Day... so with the cash I had for dinner that night, I ran down to EB and bought the game. Ended up being a better night after all.
Hell yes! I totally bought this asap. Only relatively recently did I bootcamp to Windows on my mac and play all the way through HL2. It's nice to get some backstory as to what the hell was going on before.
Half-Life remains one of the few old games I can play without the graphics bringing me down so much that I feel like putting the game away.
God... "old game..." I really hate calling it old, but I can't deny that it is. I suppose the fact that Half-Life is the game that got me into PC gaming (along with Starcraft) should make that obvious to me.
Happy 10 year anniversary Half Life! I never managed to get around to playing the original, I may go and see if I can find it in shops anywhere. I hear it's good but not as good as HL2.
"I have serious doubts about the playability of the original Half-Life in this day and age" - say what!?!
I'm just saying this from the perspective of my rose tints, but seriously, that game was awesome. And it seriously raised the bar in many ways - remember the bosses that could hear you? Wasn't this pre-Unreal, which made the open spaces massive in comparison to Quake 2?
That said, Xen pretty much undermined the brilliance of all of that.
I remember playing this on my PII 266 (oh, if we're doing nostalgia, what ever happened to 'Turbo' buttons on the front of pcs?).

MB2 - Terminator Vs Robocop, has that awesome gritty sleazy digital kind of look that made me slightly jealous of my mate who still has his megadrive after I'd traded mine for a SNES, but that would be some dated gameplay I'll bet.
@AutomaticSnake : "pretty soon i will be in a retirement center playing PS9... lol"
This was something I was idly musing about the other day - thing of old folks homes, and you think you'd be dying of boredom as well as old age, but just think about what it will be like by the time we all get there.
Two words for you my friend: "LAN" & "Party". It will be class. It'll be like uni days, living in a student flat with loads of other guys who dig video games, except there'll be somebody else around who can do all the boring stuff for you like bring you food, wash your pissy nags and wipe your arse.
Kick ass!
Oh, and god, I was practically 22 when this came out.
Oh, and one last thing... Why Half Life was awesome:
1) underground military industrial complexes are cool
1b) underground military industrial complexes with bond villan style monorail systems are even cooler
2) evil aliens make good bad guys.
3) army dudes are cool.
4) army dudes turning out to be the bad guys too makes them even cooler, knowing you've got to Die Hard your way out of the place.
5) it was extra awesome when the army guys would also fight the aliens, while you tried to sneak through unnoticed.
6) I don't think they ever actually explained the wierd guy in the suit who you continually saw during the first game.
I've got original discs of HL, Opposing Force, and Blue Shift if anyone wants to make me any crazy offers incidentally.
