the graphics arent better, the gameplay is the same. the level design is the same bore.
you can fly now and turn into a kneeling statue hoptidooo. They could have done this with a patch for halo 3.
halo = rip.
Halo: Reach
Game » consists of 13 releases. Released Sep 14, 2010
A prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved, chronicling one of the most cataclysmic events of the Halo Universe through the eyes of a squad of Spartan super-soldiers known as Noble Team. It is also the last game in the series developed by Bungie.
Beta = Meh
Glad Im not the only one. Its fun, but not really innovating at all. Anyway, I play Halo for the SP mode, not the MP. The MP is stuck in time in my opinion.
The changes may seem subtle, but they drastically change the gameplay. I'm not sure how you can claim the 'gameplay is the same'.
As someone who hated Halo 3's multiplayer, mainly because it revolved around one weapon (the battle rifle), bunny hoping and melee attacks when you get in close.
None of which are viable tactics in Reach. Plus the armour abilities, weapon bloom, health and fall damage shake up the tactics pretty well, it's actually amusing to see so many of the hardcore players complaining over on the Bungie boards because it is so different from H3. If anything, it plays a lot more like Halo 1, which is definitely a good thing.
The graphics were extremely underwhelming. It really did look like Halo 3. Also the level design seemed boring and just uninspired. Some of the new weapons are neat, and it's fun to finally be able to sprint in a Halo game, but I'm really not sold on the game at all at this point.
You can think that. I'll be over here having a blast playing Invasion going positive 15 or more. Later!
" You can think that. I'll be over here having a blast playing Invasion going positive 15 or more. Later! "Hooray! (incidentally we need to party up)
Also, why would you WANT to make halo as bland as all the others? I like how they've made combat more interesting, yet still kept halo at the core.
Yeah, they TOTALLY look the same guys. Jeez. The one on the right doesn't look any better! duuuuh.
In all seriousness, the Armor Abilites DO change Halo's gameplay by quite a bit. Invasion certianly does as a gametype. That, and we've not even SEEN all the new Abilities let alone weapons.
This is a troll thread, most likely anyways. I'm enjoying the beta a lot, I prefer ALL of the changes to Halo 3 and I definatly can't wait to see what other changes are going to be implemented that they haven't talked about yet.
" why is he a troll if he insults one of ur fav games? grow up "FYI, Halo isn't one of my favorite games, but GG for trying.
His "opinion" of Graphics are clearly incorrect. He can say they look bad all he wants, but saying they are worse than Halo 3 is just wrong.
He's also a troll because he's trollin' all over dis 'ere thread.
The Halo multiplayer experience has never been the biggest draw for me. I'm more hopeful for the campaign.
I had my first game of invasion today, and was completely lost, coupled with the fact that another team that I think were on my side immediately tried to kill me and my friend...
RE: Graphics, I think it's just because the beta is running in connection with the ODST disc. Is it possible that they could be using a lot of information from that, or is it definitely completely independent of ODST? I'm an innocent here, I have absolutely no idea.
you=must not have actually played the game
The only thing i can think of that would make you think of that is if you didnt actually play the beta. Stick the ODST disc in and play the beta. Then put the multiplayer disc in and play it. If you still think they are exactly the same your either blind, or partial retarded.
If you dont like the beta thats one thing, I could care less if you like it or not, but its a different story when you give an "opinion" about something you know nothing about. The graphics are better, the gameplay is obviously different, the engine is different, the guns are different, the story will be new, etc. Saying that it could have been a patch is laughably stupid.

"It is completely independent. Although it does require ODST for most of the general public, some members of the media and other's are able to download the BETA straight from the marketplace without the ODST disc. It is a BETA, the Halo 3 beta didn't have the same polish that Halo 3 had, this isn't any different.
If you think the gameplay is the same then you've never played a lot of Halo 3 or you haven't played the Beta.
There are changes, there is a list. It is a very long list.
I mean no, it isn't radically. different. It's a Halo game, they aren't going to change the fundamental structure. Compared to Halo 3, or even ODST, though the changes they've made are very significant. The Spartans are much more vulnerable, and a lot of the weapons have been toned down in power. You have to work to earn kills in Reach, a battle isn't decided before it even starts and there is no weapon for every job. Reach is a far more tactical game than any of the previous Halos, and if you don't believe me then go play a game of Invasion then come back and tell me otherwise.
Armor Abilities changed the game in a big, big way.
The gameplay is loads better than Halo 2/3. It is Halo CE but evolved once again. It isn't instant gratification either, like COD, BFBC, and in some respects Halo 3. It is more skill demanding and has a lot less stupid quirks like the BR or assault+melee. All the weapons are useful as are all the armor abilities if you know how to use them. Reach requires you to learn new mechanics to play and succeed. Also this is a beta and not a demo, so its missing almost all the features. Graphics have improved a lot but they aren't mind blowing. There are two reasons for this: It's multiplayer (Reach SP alpha look so much better) and second its a beta, so some final features and effects are missing like AO and some textures.
seriously they should have changed the gameplay for the MP maybe a cross between halo and modernwarfare.
i was looking for a change because at the moment its no different from halo 3.
yeah the graphics are upgraded...quite alot infact..
Do not mistake art direction for same graphics.
Thats how halo has allways looked but its never looked better.
It looks better than Halo 3 but that doesn't mean very much. The graphics are competent but not impressive. Gameplay wise they have made a lot of changes but ultimately it still feels very much the same. Those saying that it's a beta and thus will get better, are wrong. The Halo 3 beta looked and played almost exactly the same as the final product. I like the game, I'm just not blown away. Bungie needed to raise their game a lot on this one and I am not sure that they did. I'm not hating on Halo, MW2 was exactly the same as MW and yet somehow worse.
You guys bashing the OP for his opinion is embarrassing. I see the 'upgraded' graphics and it doesn't look all that great. Surely they could've pumped more out with a brand new engine? I mean, aren't they like the biggest IP in the world?
Like others have said, I'm starting to get extremely bored with the Halo franchise, and adding these small little things aren't really wetting my appetite. The game still plays like an advanced version of Halo 2. I used to play COD2 all the time, and absolutely loved it. Since then, COD4 has changed the game, then MW2 has changed it even more. Sure the actual shooting is the same, but you can really tell there are big changes from all 3 games.
Halo: Reach is going to be great due to the campaign/co-op. I just hope they do something to freshen up the game online.
I dont think Bungie should get anymore freepasses. They got one for halo 3 but not anymore. ofcourse at the end of the day it all depends on their PR and how much they harrass the vg journalist for a good review.

I will say that the super-focus on teamwork makes playing by yourself one of the worst experiences of all time. For this very reason, I might now buy the game. I am a lone wolf type player, and no matter what settings I choose, I am getting matched up against teams of four (partied up) with random teammates on my team. The game itself, it's fun, but like I said, this is really ruining my experience and I haven't played the beta for days.
" @AnimalFather said:Why im just saying i liked halo but not anymore and the way things work now is that it doesnt matter if a game is bad cause if theres enough pr hype and pressure they get good reviews."
