personally, i enjoyed going through that third person shooter, it had its shit but most games do, it managed to keep me coming back til the boss fight and in retrospect i give it a 7.
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Nov 13, 2007
A squad-based shooter centering around the uneasy alliance between ex-military mercenary Adam 'Kane' Marcus and the psychopathic James Lynch.
Gerstmann & Eidos & the Internet aside, How much do u PERSONALLY give Kane & Lynch: Dead Men ?
I enjoyed it with a friend over a weekend... I'd never wan't to play it again but for something that cost £7 it was pretty enjoyable. (3/5)
" A 7. Competent, but gave no wow-factor, and there are far, far better FPS's on the market, especially today. "TPS*
I have it sitting on my shelf, Gamefly kept sending me copies of it on top of my regular two games; I would send it back and they would send another copy. After I had two copies in hand, as well as my two rentals, and numerous emails trying to clear the obvious problem up to no result, I just gave one to a friend and kept one.
I have never finished the game, but I have played it a few times. I thought it was interesting, and the characters were kind of unique. I really enjoyed the bank scene, it added a twist that gave a very old scene some new flavour. Just from what I played, it deserves a solid six, which is not a bad score on my scale. It was a decent shooter with good ideas that really just needed more time in the oven. With polish, the game could have been really good. As is, it just has weird control issues and bad dialogue.
Honestly? I was really looking forward to the game because I like playing co-op shooters with my brothers, but when it got such mediocre reviews (Yes, especially Jeff's video review, which talked about how unlikable the characters were and how janky the game mechanics were) I passed on it. I never really believed Jeff got fired because he gave Kane & Lynch a bad score.
I'm also more than willing to give the sequel a fair chance, if it fixes all the problems from the first one I'll certainly check it out, see if it's worth it.
The game started off well ... nice urban scenarios right out of action movies. And even though the controls and the shooting felt kinda janky and the AI had serious flaws I had fun with it. It went downhill after about half of the game and the last quarter or so on Cuba was complete rubbish and felt disconnected from the rest of the game (I know for a fact that these were levels from a cancelled freedom fighters game that were thrown in because they were already made and could be used to lenghten K&L). Both the endings and the last bit of the story in general was bad as well.
For the fun I had in the first sections of the game I'd rate it a 6.
PS: I had absolutely no problems with "unlikably characters" at all. In fact I liked how the game didn't present it's characters as purely good or purely evil but as shades in between.
