“Kodu” created playgrounds are expressed in physical action-reaction terms, using basic concepts like vision, hearing and time to control your character’s behavior. Players can start their own unique “Kodu” created playgrounds from scratch or, if they aren’t in the mood to create, they can choose from several pre-loaded levels for quick play. With almost 200 different game-creation building blocks to choose from, the opportunities are endless.

"Cheapass LBP clone rushed out the door to try and combat LBP. Too bad LBP wasn't the huge sensation Sony wanted it to be. Won't change the fact that this game will probably suck, though."Boku/kodu has infact been in the work before LBP it was talked about before LBP was ever talked about.
"Cheapass LBP clone rushed out the door"
Err its been in MS research for the last 3 years..
This is a great way to introduce actual programming concepts in a visual way sounds very interesting and from what ive been told very very flexible in what it can do. This is a great initiative to introduce that right way of thinking when creating games at an early age without the technical knowledge needed to write code.
Im sure most of the doubters dont really know what it is, its really based around looking at creating a game in a different way so to make a charaacter fire a gun you simply select the 'Character > Controller > A Button > Gun' the engine then knows when you press the a button on the controller to fire the gun.
looks great. the demo from yesterday was amazing. it could single-handedly get people interested in programming.
Crap with an original name like "Boku", I thought was in for the first Bukkake video game with MP social networking interface.
At those calling this a LBP clone.. This has been in development since well before we knew about LBP, and it's not even really the same thing. It's designed to make creating games for XNA easier, similar to something like RPG Maker. If you're going to bash something, at least read about what it is first, instead of jumping to conclusions.
LBP was NOT the first game to focus on user generated content, nor is it even the best.
This 'game' could very well be it as in it could be the next step in User Created Content.
I will buy this game for TWO reasons
1) because SEGA is to blind, deaf, and dumb for not releasing Chu Chu Rocket on XBLA.
2) There is no Hungry Hungry Hippo-ish type of zany multiplayer game on XBLA.
so with this type of game, i can finally (hopefully) try to make my own version of those two titles.
Yo Jaded, where does that quote come from? I enjoyed it thoroughly.
If Little big Planet is any indication of my interest in creation then I am most likely going to skip this download. I try to be creative, but just end up making large devices that look like spagetti fighting with a dog on the way to the zoo where I enjoy going when my mom leaves on vacation with one of her various lovers and I'm stuck here and have nothing to do and.... lost my point.
I think the decision to release this as a "game" is related to Little Big Planet. Just like the new dashboard, they are rushing something out to try to appeal to everyone. The first panel of this comic to sums up what I think they are trying http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/7/16/ I mean this thing could have been around for ten years, and I would still say this, because of LBP Microsoft wants to capture the user-generated content market.
Just because I think that though, does not mean I think this "game" will suck or anything. But if LBP wasn't around, I think this would have stayed an in-company program.
"Cheapass LBP clone rushed out the door to try and combat LBP. Too bad LBP wasn't the huge sensation Sony wanted it to be. Won't change the fact that this game will probably suck, though."Yeah, because 2 million selling games are flops.
Seems interesting. I don't know if it will have the same impact as LBP though.
Also, this seems like Preschool type stuff, based on that screenshot.
Remember the Boku juiceboxes? Those things were hip and delicious, I miss them like I miss orange Hubba Bubba (a lot.)
