i don't recall the mario program either - but i would have thought around the time mario originally came out as it was an instant hit on the console.
Vaxadrin, actually, I thought this was pretty awesome as a kid. Mario and Luigi learn to rap and stuff in live action scenes -- Momma Mia even comes to visit...
The cartoons were either Super Mario Bros 3, or Super Mario Bros Super Show -- which had cartoons half the time and the other half was the mario bros in this sit-com style presentation. Better than the Mario Bros. movie at least.
