So today, after having finished LotSB, I decided that I would start a new play through and have all DLC's ready from the get go (unlike before where I've just loaded my completed ME2 file and played it for the achievement).
With that in mind I decided to also buy all of the DLC's I hadn't purchased yet, including Project Overlord and some of the weapon & armor ones.
How many of the DLC's have you purchased so far and which ones have you more or less avoided? Why did you buy the ones you have and were you satisfied with them?
Mass Effect 2
Game » consists of 21 releases. Released Jan 26, 2010
After a violent death by an unknown force and a timely reanimation by the human supremacist organization Cerberus, Commander Shepard must assemble a new squad in the seedier side of the galaxy for a suicide mission in the second installment of the "Mass Effect" trilogy.
DLC - Which ones have you bought?
I just started catching up on it and bought Overlord a few days before LotSB was released. I'm not sure if I should buy the Kasumi DLC now or wait a while though. Anyway I loved both of the DLC packs and it was great getting back into Mass Effect. The third game can't come soon enough.
I bought all of them. Costume pack was kind of dumb. :P
But yeah, ME2 is fantastic, so more ME2 is more fantastic.
i bought or have all of the dlc missions, no armor or anything like that unless it was free.
im a mass effect fanboy
I've bought all of them except for the costume pack, althoug I probably will when my leftover points add up. I enjoyed all the DLC, I thought overlord had a great plot and loved the heist gameplay in Kasumi. Noone seemed to like Zaeed but I thought his mission was good. Love me as much mass effect 2 as possible,
Besides the free stuff, I bought Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker. Both were fantastic, too, probably even better than anything from the main game. If you don't buy them, you are really missing out. I haven't played the Kasumi DLC yet, though. After the disappointment that was the Zaeed DLC I don't really feel like paying for it. If she had actual dialog and maybe even a romance, then damn rights I would pay for it.
Only the free ones 'cause my current PC can't handle ME2 and wasting money on something I can't enjoy playing would be silly. :(
I only have the free DLC and the Lair of the Shadow Broker. First Paid DLC that actually had a premise that I give a damn about, and was actually really good.
I bought all of the mission packs and the firepower pack because of the low price and great weapons it offers. Costume packs are useles and ugly and i have no need for the armor packs because i have all of them when they accidentaly released them for free download for awhile just before the launch.
All of them.
Kasumi - Meh; strong beginning, crap middle and ending. I'd have to say her character is overall pretty strong though gameplay-wise (one of her attacks is essentially 1 hit KO, and recharges 80% faster at level 4).
Overlord - A lot of people liked this, but I hated it. Not only did it have -nothing- to do with the main storyline, most of it was just a generic corridor crawl, copy and pasted from another mission. The worst DLC imo.
Lair of the Shadow Broker - This is the best DLC by a long shot. Great production values, excellent story, and very lengthy relatively speaking.
Cerberus Network - comes with the game, but if you don't have it, don't bother. The only benefit is that you get Zaeed, all of the other content is crap and it doesn't appear that they will be adding more free content anytime soon.
Alternate Apperance Pack - would've been worth it if they gave an alternate appearance to all characters, but it only gives it to 3. If you really want to see Garrus, Jack or Thane in some different clothes, you can get this I suppose.
Equalizer pack - the effects are pretty useless and the gear is ugly.
Aegis pack - some of the gear is useful
Firepower pack - the best non-mission DLC; Mattock assault rifle is extremely powerful, and very useful on insanity difficulty.
All of them. The weapon pack with the geth shotgun, pistol with the laser sight and the Mattock rifle will totally change how you play the game. That pack is totally worth it. Vanguard with the overcharged geth shotgun is incredible, the laser sight pistol will let you shoot the legs off of mechs in any class. And the Mattock is better than the revenant, The weapon training is a real question, as a soilder do you want the Widow with the Mattock? Or as a Vanguard now you get the Geth Shotgun so no need to bother with the Krogan shotgun and the reload trick, so do you go sniper rifle?
All of them, the significant ones being Kasumi, Overlord and Shadow Broker. I really feel they're all worthwhile on different levels.
Kasumi is best to play at the start of ME2, as you then can benefit from all of her commentary on people and situations throughout the game after her character specific quests are complete. It's all very nicely written and acted, she's a good character to have around and I had her on my team for plenty of missions. Picking her up after the main story finishes would limit the amount of value you'd get out of this DLC though, I'd imagine.
Overlord is a really unique mission, not really in terms of what you do (shoot stuff) but with the cyperpunk/ghost in the machine premise. Feels like a really good "continuing adventures of shepard" episode.
Shadow Broker is the best Mass Effect DLC Bioware's done, and maybe some of the best post-game DLC for any title I've played. I'd suggest tackling this one after the main missions ends, as it sets up a few things for Mass Effect 3. Essential to the story, gameplay variety, funny, touching, just a ton of fun and full of great easter eggs for fans of the series.
I have everything that was released at launch, thanks to the screw-up at Microsoft.
I have everything that was provided for free via Cerberus Network.
I also have all the DLC that gave achievements (Kasumi, Overlord & Shadow Broker).
Didn't bother with the paid weapons / armor stuff. Seemed needless. My Lvl 30 Sentinel kicks ass on Insane as it is. ;)
I got them all - I need a complete Mass Effect, it's compulsive.
I think the Costume is pack is -mostly- worthless, but at the same time is entirely worth it to patch up Garrus' suit (but honestly it should have come from his Loyalty mission).
Was happy with all the weapon/armor packs (less so with the one that resold me Inferno Armor, but the other parts were good)
The Ageis pack is probably the best Weapon pack due to the Kaiser Armor (each pieces boost 3 stats, which is rare, the legs are great) and the Heavy Pistol w/ Lazer sight (it's great for headshots).
Kasumi, Overlord, Broker all very much worth it - I found Broker to be even better when you fully integrate it into the story.
