Mass Effect, great story, fantastic game play
I beat mass Effect in the course of 1 week, and regardless of rushing through a great game, it was an amazing ride, the story was captivating and invigorating, a great appeal to keep on playing. The game has a fantastic sex appeal to it, playing part dating sim when you enter into a torn decision between two women with a very suggestive love scene. Other than that, you have your standard Knights of the Old Republic good guy bad guy ranking system with a hell of a combat system. The First person shooter plays like an FPS, with the sweet taste of an RPG. The upgrades associated with the game are phenomenal, however sadly there is no real draw to use anything other than assault rifle and your bio abilities the whole game.
The game suffers in areas such as vehicular combat, it gives you plenty of oppurtunities to do so, but they are very similar in every occurence. Another fault is the very diverse world that feels like it could be a sandbox, but one that has only the driest of sand available, there is not exactly any appeal to explore the world because theres nothing but a few specks of something else other than the main mission in the game, not that there arent enough side missions but the route to them has very little substance at all. You see no other civilizations, only outposts of miners or raiders.
Other than that, this series has very great promise, with the ability to replay through the game with your character, it promises that you will be able to craft the world and yourself as you want to be, were you a little to nice the first time around? Or were you too harsh and have no allies for when your stats are loaded into Mass Effect 2? (As fortold by Bioware) Well then play back through and fry all those bugs you never fryed, or maybe even accept some friendships and be less antigay along your way, all the while having full advantage and building on your already amazing abilities!
It would be hardpressed to not enjoy this game, Id suggest a copy to anybody.
