" I loved the Mercs single player experience (both Mercs 1 and Mercs 2, despite the latter's technical issues)... "Whew, I thought it was just me that really enjoyed Mercs 2, despite both itself and my better judgement. I thought the real sandboxy fun easily outweighed its rough edges. Of course, I don't really feel the need for a follow up, especially one that's got a multiplayer slant to it.

The Mercenaries series was set to continue with an online-focused third title, but Pandemic Studios was closed in November 2009. Electronic Arts claimed to continue working on the franchise, but nothing has been heard about the game since.
EA Announces The Next Mercenaries Game
Only exciting thing about that entire trailer was the music and it's only because it was absurdly loud and nonsensical. You put some Johan Sebastien Bach in there and suddenly the graphics stop looking good and you notice it's not even running at 40FPS. Oh the power of the guitar and anorexic bisexual frontmen whose pants constrict the blood in their nether regions.
This was the only way I think they coulda gotten me interested in Mercs again. After being heart-broken by the second installment, I could have cared less about another Mercs. This at least looks interestin'.
"I'm glad the announcement was because of the leaked trailer, otherwise this would've been in fucking awful taste. And the trailer looks pretty uninteresting. I'll be buying The Saboteur though. "

yeah id much rather they use mercs 2 tech and refine that and make a whole new game, I loved mercs 1, and i loved mercs 2 mercs 2 looked good for what it was, had some problems but if they were to refine it so it runs at a smooth 30-60 fps, defaulted at 720p and refined the engine so it has not so many bugs then id love it.
This sounds like such a weird game, and it is being announced at such a weird time. EA doesn't announce games in pre-production, EA just closed Pandemic, and this sounds like the worst idea ever...
and to add salt to the injury it is "using what appears to be Mercenaries 2 technology."
YUP.
I'll definitely be waiting for the reviews on this one, after the massive dissapointment of Mercs. 2
I had a lot of fun with Mercenaries 2 except the part where you interact with the helicopter guy. Whenever I needed a lift from the PMC we would all of the sudden be out of bounds and I would have to medvac if I wanted to keep my gear or else I would die. Every time I would call him out in the field he would fuck up too. When it came to getting lift I would be booted out of the chopper when selecting a place on the map for almost half of my attempts to go somewhere. When airlifting supplies he would just hover there and do nothing at the same amount of attempts as it took to go somewhere. As long as they fix that in the next game then Im all for it.
Meh, stuff like this confirms to me why Pandemic went under. The footage looks like crap.
And am I cruel and heartless because I don't give a shit that a second-rate developer crashed and burned? People get laid off every single day; it's called America.
Why show a badly made video, with lacking graphics? Simple. To distract people from Pandemic shutting down, and offering a product instead.
