    Micro-Review: Worth the Frustration

This game has such a love/hate relationship going for it. On the one hand the world and aesthetic is fantastic. In fact I would go so far as to say the gameplay is fantastic.....mostly. The game has a portal-estc puzzle thing going for it, that when done right works amazingly well. At several instances through the game I found myself pondering how I could jump from ledge to ledge.

Whole the puzzle and platforming is great the fighting isn't and more often then not gets in the way of the overall gameplay. While there is something to be said about the exhilaration of running away from the police while being shot at, the parts where they make you fight them both hamper the puzzle solving elements and are frustrating in their combat mechanic.

Overall the game was 70% realized. The running and parkour was fantastic. The puzzles were great and running from the police really made you feel like you were in danger. The sometimes forced fighting elements though hampered the game too much.

In fact, the game encourages you to avoid combat situations at all times, and the act of shooting a gun isn't satisfying either, which is weird, since the guns definitely packed a punch in the Battlefield games. Instead of being a shooter, Mirror's Edge is based on Parkour, the sport that sees athletes moving from point A to point ...

Editor's Note: Video review included! Both reviews took me quite awhile, and this is my first review in nearly a year. Both reviews differ from each other and include a few different thoughts. Unfortunately, my capturing device went FUBAR prior to the review, so I had to use trailer footage for the video. In result, I could not always use footage that fit the context.
