" What do you mean by "tampered" with? EDIT: Oh...I see. "The entire wiki article was deleted and replaced with a porn link.
For real!? DAMNIT! I DIDN'T SEE A LINK TO CL-" @AlwaysAngry said:
" What do you mean by "tampered" with? EDIT: Oh...I see. "The entire wiki article was deleted and replaced with a porn link. "
But seriously, why a porn link? The SFIV article has a picture that says "Who the fuck cares?" Also, when I checked, the Persona 4 page still looks normal.
" @CitizenKane: Who the fuck is doing this, isn't this three now? Is there a way to trace this absolute wanker? "Right now it stands as 3: Persona 4, Modern Warfare 2 and Street Fighter IV. We do not have any suspects at this time.
If he is just doing it, he must have over 1,000 points, or-else the MOD's would see...right?" @CitizenKane: Who the fuck is doing this, isn't this three now? Is there a way to trace this absolute wanker? "
I think it was CitizenKane and now he's trying to frame another user.
Do you have an ala by? Did I even spell that right?
I am not surprised. There is vandalism on every wiki out there, why should giantbomb be the sole expection? Yes, it's sad, but that's just gonna happen. Not much anyone can do about it.
Popularity leads to intimacy, but also to vandalismcy.
@Red12b:
it is kind of serious but unless you expect the person guilty to just come into the forum and say 'i did it' i'm not sure why always angry can't make a few jokes
besides doesn't the page keep a record of who edits it?
" Wait a minute, I thought it took two moderators to delete a page, not just some guy with 1000 points. Also, how did Dave not build in a way to track edits and deletions? That's the first thing I'd do if I was gonna give the filthy public live edit access to a database. "A user with over 1'000 points can effectively wipe the text off of the page, same thing really isn't it.
Yeah I should think there would be, but that would be under the Engineers of the sites jurisdiction, Mods would not have that power,
I bet there are caches that the engineers can reboot, or something.
I don't think so. This is why they implemented the moderation of submissions. In turn, that means our unsub should have more than 1000 points."besides doesn't the page keep a record of who edits it?"
" Can you search when these edits happened, and which users accumulated points at that time? "The staff has this ability, yes.
wait i see a pattern
persona 4
street fighter 4
call of duty 4,2
i'm onto you tampererererer, quick everyone to the super mario 4 page for a stakeout
Is there some sort of roll-back system implemented, yet to recover the lost wiki?
Also, how is there no way to track the most recent edits and what they've done?
" @Elazul said:Great. I don't know what's worse, the fact that anyone with over 1000 points can effectively wreck this site if they feel like it, or that we are currently broadcasting this information to the entire site..." I think it's just common knowledge, That is why there are modded submissions, so that a user might be put off putting in the effort to try and fuck things up, GB has a few persistent trolls, I would bet on it that it is one of them, or maybe it';s just the one dude with different aliases,
Show's how little their time matters to them, How sad an individual must you be to do this I don't know.
I've saved a copy of the Persona 4 page onto my PC. Nerdy? Yes? Important? Abso-fucking-lutely.
Anyway that's pretty horrible to hear. Hope it gets sorted out soon.
" @eroticfishcake: Haha, I saved Red Dead Redemption, Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2, Halo 3, Dragon Age: Origins, BFBC, and BFBC2 earlier. Whoever it is seems to be going after big games / games with the most popular forums. Not sure if the site has a rollback feature, so I figured grabbing a few of the big ones couldn't hurt. "Heh. Good to know I'm not alone in these nerdy actions. Kudos to you mate. I would save a copy of other games but considering the relationship that Persona4 has with GiantBomb I've decided to save a copy of everything Persona 4 related (the crucial bits anyway).
Anyway, it's interesting to note the pages that have been tampered with. Sure, the games are currently pretty popular everywhere else but they feel a little too specific.
Well this gentlemen certainly isn't the most pathetic person wasting my oxygen right now. Maybe it's Endogene. His name was, apparently, Endogene.
We've managed to restore all the pages (that we know of) that had their content removed. We still don't know who did it though. The staff should be able to help us with that when they come online.
Either way, if you come across any more pages that have had their content removed like this - please contact us immediately.
By the way, didn't the wiki used to have an edit history page? Oh, and Kudos for detecting the culprit.
@FrankCanada97: There was briefly a wiki history tool on the site, it was removed due to complications and errors and for now is not expected to return anytime soon. So good old fashioned detective work is needed!
Since this is now resolved I'll lock this down. We're sorry if you were the top editor on a page and have been knocked off by a mod, but we had to restore missing content on the pages after vandalism ruined them, so apologies for that.
