Okay, I am a fan of ladies, but I feel like this game has reached a Soul Calibur level of creepiness. I understand that this is a game about extreme violence and outrageousness and calling it out for being overly sexy seems really weird, but I actually wanted to turn the Quick Look off after seeing the Mileena vs Mileena fight. Everyone gave Soul Calibur shit for this right? Why does no one seem to care when Mortal Kombat has extremely under-dressed ladies in it? Once again I will say that I kind of understand why the ladies in this game are like this, but it still creeps me the fuck out. Am I alone?

One of the goriest fighting game franchises returns to its roots, introducing a new story that re-tells the events of the first three Mortal Kombat games (with a unique twist).
The ladies in this game are super creepy!
" Mileena didn't lose less clothing as each game went on. That's why. "I'm looking at screen shots from the older games right now. She definitely had more clothes on.
Soul caliber took that stuff with the girl fighters further. MK doesn't seem to be that bad with that stuff. Also I didn't have a problem with that Mileena v. Mileena fight in the QL. So I guess just get over it then? It could be worse.
Admittedly, in the game before MK vs DC, Sonya looked like a bad transexual so this can only be a plus.
The common theory is that Mileena dresses like she does to take the focus off of her (totally awesome) set of jaws. The real reason is of course to sell games, but still, she's consistently been one of the more awesome looking MK characters, skimpy clothes or no.
" Mileena is a demon, you guys DO realize that right? She is supposed to be creepy. "There are other ladies who wear the exact same outfit, so this is kind of irrelevant.
Maybe I'm just reading too much into it. Either way, it doesn't truly bother me. This game gives me nothing but good vibes.
Edit: I tried to put the reason why I think she's getting a strange amount of attention, but the spoilers aren't working for some reason.
Is she really as bad as Ivy? REALLY?
Besides, Mileena is somewhat counter balanced by not bouncing anywhere near as much, and also being really fucking scary with her scary mouth. Course, that was kind of always Mileena's thing, the "I'm a pretty lady-RAWR NO I'M NOT! I'M A MONSTER!" Or maybe it's just because MK has that totally crazy over the top ridiculousness so it feels less bad. Or maybe it's because while fighting characters get their models damaged, so even if she is showing exposed skin, half of the time most of it is bloody and all messed up so it doesn't look like she's wearing as little as she actually is.
If the spoiler you posted actually WAS true, that would probably be enough to make me drop MK entirely no matter how much I love it.
Dudes who constantly white knight about how women are portrayed concerning violence and sexuality are always the most anti-feminist. This shit doesn't cross my mind, just like Johnny Cage being shirtless doesn't cross my mind. Try to get laid some other way.
I enjoyed the way she seemed to have an explicit orgasm after eating that whatever, and anyways I know to blame it on Anime Vice if things go south. Right?
She is gross and creepy. I know ppl. including Jeff very much like this game, and of course I myself am obviously checking it out. But I am a bit disturbed by her, and more the hardcore cruelty and meanness of spirit overall that comes down. It's well realized fantasy, but at the end of the day I'll stay with my more hygienic shooters and action rpgs. Mortal Kombat has an atmosphere that is authentic but i donno..definitely needs to be regulated to an emotional and social safe zone. But of course it is a fighting game, and I have zip ability there. the only way for me to get my jollies is to occasionally check a ql or such out.
gawd she is a freak!
Edit: I should also reiterate that I'm not taking offense of any sort to nu-Mileena, I just think it's odd. But all of my favorite things have quirks like that, so it's not a bad thing.
I'm mainly just wondering if you have any kind of legitimate source for that, considering the sheer amount of fake rumors that always surround each new MK game.
" @ShaggE:I'm mainly just wondering if you have any kind of legitimate source for that, considering the sheer amount of fake rumors that always surround each new MK game. "It's honestly just speculation, although I'm hunting down more concrete evidence as we speak. So far I've found little but an interesting image on Comic Vine's image uploads that backs it up, so we'll see.
The difference between MK and SC is that MK isn't playing it all up for fan service. As the series went on, SC started to coat itself in this layer of awkward Japanese fetishism. We were constantly looking up skirts and watching large breasts bounce around the screen. Did anyone else notice how Ivy's rack seemed to get bigger and bigger with every entry in the series? In SC4 she looked like she was ripped out of some horrible hentai book. Milenna seems to be the only MK character behaving in any sort of erotic manner, but it really isn't all that sexy. Many others have pointed it that they find her self groping after a match to be either funny or flat out creepy.
Boone and the guys don't intend on Milenna giving us little fanboy erections. No, they intend on her making as pause and after an awkward silence say, "That's kind of fucked up."
Mk doesn't really have that kind of atmosphere though, it lays in on so thick that it's always just becomes a parody of itself, which I think has always been the point of the series. I think Bulletstorm would be the closest analogue in terms of shooters, the series doesn't take itself seriously in the least. At least I hope no or I wouldn't have any time for it if it did. You'll get the 15 year olds who flock to the game for the violence and don't realise that it's played for laughs but that's always been the nature of "video nasty" type entertainment. Some people watch for the pure camp and schlock factor while others miss the point and either like it for the wrong reasons or write a Daily Mail article." But I am a bit disturbed by her, and more the hardcore cruelty and meanness of spirit overall that comes down.
Edit: That said this is the internet and I should know better than to presume some people don't fantasise about doing fatalities on female characters while manipulating themselves with a crusty sock.
I like how Mileena plays... Just.... I can't look at the screen after winning.
Disturbing... Almost makes me not want to win. Almost.
I think because people understand that the guys behind Mortal Kombat intend it to be humorous. The guys behind Soul Calibur want to draw in all the sad, lonely hentai watchers who want to pleasure themselves to CG girls. In MK, The ridiculous outfits as well as the absurd amounts of gore are almost self-parody and a parody of the entire fighting game genre at this point.
Well, son, it goes like this. When you have that creepy feeling in your pants, it's natures way of telling you it is time to reproduce. When a man and a woman want to make a baby, the man puts his penis in the woman's vagina.
Then 9 months later, a stork arrives with the newborn babe at your doorstep. It's all very scientific.

"I don't think giant boobs are meant to be humorous.
It's the just the same kinda '12 Year Old kid', M Rating Mortal Kombat has been and still is going for.
Not necessary a bad thing though.
Soul Calibur honestly only has Ivy that has ridiculous breasts, everyone else is fairly normal (Well, Taki and Sophitia can be argued I guess).
As for parody of the entire fighting game genre, that's just silly. MK never parodied anything except 80s-90s misleading Asian martial art stereotypes.
" @Dtat said:I disagree. There's a kind of knowing wink and a nod with all of that stuff that just seems like satire to me. The "12-year old kid" M rating is exactly what I mean when I say humorous. I think you'd be crazy to think they actually intend for the ludicrous outfits and gore to be taken seriously. Like I said: self-parody. It's been a long time since the first MK, long enough that it can be considered self-parody rather than simply parody of fantasy Kung-Fu movies anymore. Maybe I went a little too far with "parody of the entire genre," but I think it's safe to say the skimpy outfits are being done with humor in mind." I don't think the MK crew take their story and character designs seriously either.
But I don't think the skimpy outfits were meant to be humorous, flip a page earlier in this thread and you'll see the design evolution of Mileena, I think every year the skimpiness increased incrementally. It's just another way to appeal to kids really.
" It does seem like Mileena is being weirdly sexualized, though. Like, much more so than before. I mean, it's Mileena. Her mouth is a goddamn lawnmower. Unless you're into vore (for god's sake, don't look that up if you don't know), it just seems... wrong. "Ah, so that's what they call it. Thanks for clearing that up.
