My mom is doing a gift giving thing for a local charity organization, where kids in less fortunate families write what they want for Christmas on a card. She picked one up because it said "Video games for Nintendo DS", and she thought I might be able to help her out with picking out good games for the kid. I don't have a DS, so I thought you guys might be able to help me out!

He's 11 years old, and the games should be age appropriate. I have no idea what he has already, or if he even has any games.

    Thanks everybody! Any suggestions help!

Pokemon Platinum is a good idea, I know I loved Pokemon games for the gameboy color.

Oh, good idea BlackIrish. Mario and Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story just came out, I bet he doesn't have that either. Awesome.

Pokemon's probably the best choice for kids around that age. I'd suggest either of the Sonic Rush titles aswell.

Anything Mario. Zelda's probably too much for the kid, most likely. Pokemon too, and it introduces them to RPGs.

The DS has Elite Beat Agents and Rhythm Heaven, right? Those.

Oh man, my mom said we're going to get just 1 game for the kid.

I thought Pokemon Platinum, but I'm kinda worried, because it came out a few months ago, and that would suck if he already had it. I'm thinking if he's already into pokemon,  he might already have it...

So I think I'll go with Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, just because it's a better chance he wont have it. And if he does, well, it's his fault for not being specific.

Mario Kart, maybe Animal Crossing (My brother was way into it at 11). That Sonic Rush game too, kids love Sonic.

As long as it isn't anything T or M, any game could be good for the kid. I'd suggest Sonic Rush.

This. Peggle's allure spreads across the land. You can't go wrong with the musical pegs.

    Harvest Moon (any of them)
Rune Factory (Harvest Moon with RPG)
Platformers like - Yoshi's Island, Yoshii's Touch & Go, New Super Mario Bros, Super Maro 64, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, Kirby Canvas Curse, Kirby: Squeek Squad
    Mario Kart
    Mario Party
    Chibi Robo: Park Patrol
Naruto (fighting games - if he likes Naruto - or Bleach games as well)
