    Overview

Normandy is located on the northern coast of France, just across the English Channel.

In modern times, Normandy is perhaps most famous for its role in World War II, as the site of the largest aquatic invasion in history. 850,000 total troops from the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Canada were deployed to Normandy throughout 1944, starting on June 6, the infamous "D-Day". The Normandy landings are the most commonly re-created event of World War II in video games, and were a recurring subject for the Call of Duty and Medal of Honor franchises in their WWII days.

It is also from this region where the Normandy SR-1 and SR-2 ships in the Mass Effect franchise get their name.
