Issun the Poncle is an artist and calligrapher who wanders the land of Nippon. He comes to befriend the wolf goddess Amaterasu, and become her closest companion and guide in the game Ōkami.
The brush god of blizzard from Okami. Itegami allows Amaterasu to manipulate ice and snow with the Celestial Brush.
The brush god of catwalk from Okami. Kabegami allows Amaterasu to create climbing surfaces with the Celestial Brush and a cat statue.
Kagu is a young famous actress who is also exceptional exorcist. She assists Chibiterasu during his time in Sei-an City.
The mysterious protagonist of the classic Japanese folktale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter". She was found inside the stalk of a bamboo plant and raised by an elderly farmer, though she was originally born in Tsuki-no-Miyako, the capital of the moon.
The brush god of mist from Okami. Kasugami grants Amaterasu to slow down time Celestial Brush to counter enemies or assistance in dodging projectiles.
The brush god of galestorm from Okami. Kazegami grants Amaterasu the ability to manipulate wind with the Celestial Brush.
The awkward son of Susano and Kushi, he serves as one of Chibiterasu's partners throughout the game.
An eccentric young man who claims to be from another land, saying he arrived in Nippon on "a shooting star." He bears remarkable resemblance to Waka, the mysterious prophet from Okami, and accompanies Chibiterasu for much of his journey.
A clockwork owl boss that can control time from Okami. He's one of the twin demons found in the Wawku Shrine. He has a brother named Nechku.

A mermaid who serves the Dragonians (a race of humans who live underwater). She's able to control the water tide, causing it to rise or recede whenever desires and help Chibiterasu during some of his underwater expeditions.
One of the twin demons found in the Wawku Shrine from Okami. This clockwork owl boss can control time along with his brother, Lechku.
The Demon Lord of Oni Island from Okami. Ninetails wields a powerful sword and can match Amaterasu's brush techniques with her own.
The brush god of waterspout from Okami. Nuregami grants Amaterasu the ability to manipulate water and create a geyser to reach high up places with the Celestial Brush.
Oki is a character from Okami. He aids Amaterasu in freeing his homeland of Kamui of the evil Lechku and Nechku, wielding the sacred sword Kutone.
Orochi is an eight-headed, eight-tailed dragon from Japanese mythology. It typically appears in video games as some form of a boss, possibly most famously in Okami.
