I've gotten the same kind of crap from people.  Happened to me at the forums for the MMO Fallen Earth a month or so ago.  We were talking computers and when I said that I ran the game on the highest settings with a 9800 card, I got told this:

Which resolution? 1024x768? You should never say something like that without mentioning the resolution you use ... since it's impossible with your config to run it at 1680x1050 for example, there you will not even be close to 'high' settings.

    He didn't like my response....

@Chirag4: X900 rez is sort of pathetic and doesn't mean anything. I mean X1050 should be the minium for pc gaming if you want to stress the videocard on any level. Another way is to enable framerates for fraps on the screenshots. It can also be used as a benchmarking tool too I think. Why would anyone set aniostropic filtering to 8X?

Ppl are over estimating the 9800gtx 9800GT because really ppl bragging about running it with medium high settings? Get a gtx460, it's the next best bang for your buck ppl, also I used to own one of these 9800 cards, however it was overclocked like higher than anything that won't melt your card. I however used a new heatsink with three fans to cool it. By doing that, I was able to make this card last a few years, otherwise on stock, it wasn't all that powerful. Also the 9800GT version is a rebranded 8800GT with better power consumption, so it's not really powerful at all.

I used to have a 9800 GTX, and it could play Dragon Age at 1920X1080 at almost max. Now I have a 5830.

@HitmanAgent47: See, I think you missed where people talk all but the very newest (as in last couple months) games in HIGH/HIGHEST settings, not "medium high settings."

Personally, I don't run mine overclocked.  I run it stock, basically.  I haven't touched it since we put it in, haven't had to play with any settings on the card itself, anything.

Dude ATI got to the Radeon 9800 in like 2002. Nvidia are so far behind.

I assume you mean Nvidia 9800s. I have two of those in gxt+ form. No longer SLI'd any more since I'm running a clone of my primary monitor in the living room which makes three screens total. I really haven't noticed a performance drop though.

And I had an ATI 9800 pro back around when half-life 2 came out. Now THAT was a good card.

AF has almost no overhead :/ It was demanding in 2001, not quite anymore. 16x AF should be forced globally through your driver, you will notice that the textures near the horizon will be more defined.

I thought you meant the ATI 9800.  Nvidia 9800 series were pretty much just copies of their 8800's.  I also wouldn't call them little.  Many of them were 9+ inches and had dual slot coolers.
