topic pretty much sums it up, and I'm not really looking for anything specific, so what's cheap that you recommend? 
 
I was thinking about getting Unreal Tournament 3, just for the fun of the modding capabilities and some of the awesome stuff I've seen already, but was just wondering if there's anything I've overlooked.

Check Steam each weekend, they have some good deals on games and bundles. If you haven't played it yet, get the Sins of a Solar Empire bundle that comes with Entrenchment. It's a great game and is definitely worth the $20 price tag.

Go on Steam, you will find many great deals. Right now there is 50% off Rebellion Titles (Sniper Elite as one) but they have these deals every week. if you need Valve games, that is also the place to go.

Don't bother with UT3, i got for 5 bucks and even then I think i paid too much.

don't get UT3, i didn't like it, i think that 04 is a lot better. look on steam there are a lot of great games for sale there.

I've already played both at my friend's and for some reason fell in love with UT3 for no apparent reason. Maybe it's that same feeling people get when they know they're playing crap, but like it anyways, like Dynasty Warriors fans.  But, I've had a lot of fun with the MODs on that more than anything else.  So I guess I should get Garry's Mod just for funsies. "

also i played UT3 on the 360 something i shouldn't have done. it's a hard descion i looked on steam at garry's mod and there is garrys mod and tf2, or garrys mod and counter strike source. it is hard to pick which one of those to get. i have all of those games but idk which one to pick for u. "

For $25, you can get Prince of Persia, Call of Juarez, Battlestations: Midway, Maelstrom, Shadowrun, Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, Jade Empire, Prey, Just Cause, Infernal, and Mercenaries 2 on GoGamer.com.

UT3 is an excellent tool but I'd argue that there are better shooters out there.

Gogamer.com has a sale going on (48hr), its weekly so check for deals or suscribe to their newsletter. Steam deals each week, Good ol games has a promo for buy 1 get on 1 free for all classic interplay games (ie fallout, jag, etc)- 2days left: 

TF2.  
 
But for $5 more you could get the Orange Box.

UT3 is not crap. It's a very good game, that came out in the wrong time, and was rejected by the core audience (UT2k4 players).
