Kaz Hirai Explains PSN's Phased Restoration, Even Hands Out Restoration Maps (Seriously!) [UPDATED]
@wizeguy said:yup i have updated to the new firmware but i still cant sign in eitherjust turned my ps3 on in England and its updating so looks as though is back on here too. bout time i say!!!Well i update the firmware last night, i live in Denmark, so we are only an hour or two apart. But PSN is still down here.
Pretty annoyed that Europe is once again being ignored in favour of the US.
What about Europe ?....Europe isn't as important to companies compared to the States, sadly that shouldn't surprise anyone, we'll probably be back up soon enough, but it still sucks almost always being second or third priority, which is made even worse when you live in a small ass country.
Pretty annoyed that Europe is once again being ignored in favour of the US.Europe pretty much gets everything last all the time though. It's hardly just a Sony thing. Not surprising really, Sony barley acknowledge that we exist. Which is odd, considering we're their second biggest market.

Oh, I don't care how many times you've lied or treated me badly Kaz, you're still such a slick charmer :3
@Sayishere said:It'll probably be up later today, or at least within 24 hours (hopefully). The wait isn't really that bad compared to the time the network has been down, but just knowing other people are getting it back while we have to wait is a bit annoying..@pornstorestiffi said:Gues we have to wait until the entire US is sorted out.@wizeguy said:yup i have updated to the new firmware but i still cant sign in eitherjust turned my ps3 on in England and its updating so looks as though is back on here too. bout time i say!!!Well i update the firmware last night, i live in Denmark, so we are only an hour or two apart. "Sony has admitted up to 10 million credit cards stored in PSN's database were potentially exposed to the hackers before PSN went down, but there has been no proof of widespread credit card fraud in the weeks since."
Since when does widespread credit card fraud get announced anyway? It happens everyday...
I actually have a measure of insight into this, due to working within a bank's Fraud Department for a while. Usually, if credit card numbers have been obtained by sneaky sources, the fraud does not show up for a long time. The idea behind this is that the more time that passes before card details are used for fraud, the harder it is to pinpoint the place and time the details were originally obtained. If the fraud happens six months from now, it would be arguable that the Sony breach was responsible, and any implicated scumbags could argue that the card must have been skimmed in the meantime."Sony has admitted up to 10 million credit cards stored in PSN's database were potentially exposed to the hackers before PSN went down, but there has been no proof of widespread credit card fraud in the weeks since."

With skimmed details, after a lengthy period of time, the culprits sometimes blanket their entire stolen details database with one euro transactions that do not require CCV numbers. For example, the Red Cross website accepts donations without CCV numbers (I am not sure if this is still the case). This lets them know which ones are still active. If even fifteen percent of the cards are still active, they can be used to purchase things which can then be sold on.
In my experience, most of the Credit Card fraud in Ireland seems to fund terrorist / rebel organisations in asia and the middle east. A lot of Irish customers would call up with transactions from computer supply websites in asia. Large amounts of equipment is bought on the card and shipped to some address in Thailand somewhere. It is IMPOSSIBLE to launch any kind of criminal investigation, as the customer can have no definite idea of when and where the details were stolen and the police have no mandate whatsoever that encourages them to find the culprits. It's all veyr messy and no one seems to have juridstiction.
Credit card fraud is probably the "safest" kind of crime for any criminal. In my years working in the Fraud department, I do not think the police closed out a single case that our customers were involved in.
That big sincere speech seems to be invalidated somewhat by being followed by a logo which says, "Make Believe."Lol, you are right.
Finally I can link my Steam account and start Portal 2 downloading. Then my PS3 is going into the proverbial garbage can.I knew I followed you for a reason.
How ironic, yanks are in bed yet they were first. Least I know not to buy a Sony product EVER again.
From the UK and still waiting. Yeah, it can be pretty frustrating but I guess considering how long this has been down, waiting a little longer probably makes no difference. You can't help but feel that most of the people in Europe working on this are probably taking the weekend off, lol.
Advanced Security TechnologyI laughed pretty hard when I saw that. I was like DUH I hope it includes some of that!!
@musclerider said:Agreed...no one is forcing you to read this news -_-I don't own a PS3 so I'm just about ready to not have to listen to any more stories about this whole thing.if your not a ps3 user then why the fuck are you here in this forum. not being an ass just wondering
How ironic, yanks are in bed yet they were first. Least I know not to buy a Sony product EVER again.please stop the race hate. sony is a wonderful company that makes great products. your hatred of the japanese (disguised as a sony boycott) will cheat you of a lot of great experiences. serves you right.
@Bjorn: It's hard to not take his comment as racist when his first few words are "yanks".HOW is "Yank" or "Yankee" racist? 'Muricans is a race now? Race /= Nation.
Anyway, woohoo good to see they are getting their shit together finally.
