Worldwide release for October apparently. That's pretty cool.

Looks like they finally made an effort to improve the visuals of the game.

I like the look of Froakie

This looks amazing. Can hardly wait! :D

I'm in love.

We finally have a 3D Pokemon game and it looks amazing. New starter designs are pretty neat too, not the best ever, but likeable enough. All we need now is customisable trainers.

I think it's about time they made the jump to 3D, and this might be the game to make me buy a 3DS (well this and definitely Pushmo/Crashmo and a few others).. But I'm kinda disappointed that's theres not more to the combat, the animation looks neat but now that there 3D it's a complete waste to have them stand on these invisible platforms and not interact..

Otherwise I'm finally back into Pokemon.. first time since Gold/Silver

#10 Posted by JJOR64 (19548 posts) -

Really curious about all the 3DS features in this game. Since the 3DS is a giant Pokewalker, bringing that back would be awesome. Just put your 3DS into sleep and starting walking and your Pokemon start gaining EXP.

Did that deer have sword legs...

#12 Posted by Cheesebob (1285 posts) -

Should've been Pokemon Alpha and Omega tbh

#13 Posted by Capum15 (5113 posts) -

Oh man, that's awesome. Been wanting a 3D Pokemon game for a long time. Very well may get the 3DS.

#14 Posted by JJOR64 (19548 posts) -

That is for Nuntendo 4DS.
#15 Posted by Rokkaku (248 posts) -

Froakie looks pretty good, not sure about the other too. The jump to a proper 3D perspective is absolutely the way to go, but as others have said, the combat still looks like it's operating on the basic traditional principles of a Pokemon game. Nevertheless, it looks good, and could get me back into the series after a long hiatus. Some MMO elements would absolutely sell me on it, but I don't know how possible that would be.

#16 Posted by AlisterCat (6126 posts) -

FIREFOX the pokemon. Well, more firefox than Vulpix.

#17 Posted by JJOR64 (19548 posts) -

Ok, I need to go to bed now.

*inserts RIP Vita joke here*

The combat looks like pokemon stadium. 3D models that perform moves but don't interact. Unless they create a massive amount of animations for the pokemon battles, repetition would become a problem. Animating 500+ pokemon and having unique battle moves for when they interact (froakie vs fennekin has to look different than fennekin vs chespin) seems almost impossible.

Okay, they got me excited for a Pokemon game again.

#20 Posted by Worcanna (102 posts) -

And here was me hoping that MAYBE....Nintendo would go "hey, its a full pokemon game for your Wii U. Since that thing is kinda a 3DS now and would be awesome to finally get off our asses and do. Instead of half-assing it with a stadium game every year".

Boy, is my face red. Haha. There there, my little Wii U. Your still at least having fun playing...........Youtube in my front room. -_- Geezus nintendo.

Between this, dark souls 2, the last of us and GTA 5, this year is going to be fucking killer!

#22 Posted by moffattron9000 (388 posts) -

I eagerly await the Pikachu 3DS that I will buy with this game (as long as it gets released outside Japan). Also damn you Google dictionary telling me that Pikachu is in fact spelled Spinach.

#23 Posted by UlquioKani (1283 posts) -

Are you kidding me Pokemon X and Y? I thought it was a place holder for an unannounced title.

The game does look pretty cool though. I really hope they sped up the battles though

#24 Posted by ExplodeMode (851 posts) -

Jrpgs with worldwide release? That's awesome. More of that.

#25 Posted by Tobli (155 posts) -

I did not expect to care about this at all, but it does look pretty neat. I might have to get a 3DS now.

#26 Posted by ImmortalSaiyan (4745 posts) -

That feels fast. If this is quality I may have to get a 3DS. I would of preferred pink and purple.

#27 Posted by coakroach (2493 posts) -

That looks pretty awesome except all Pokemon past Gen III have no appeal to me

It's stupid, but I cant get my head around playing a Pokemon game without a Quagsire or Gengar in my party

But if i'm getting a 3DS for SMTIV anyway...

#28 Posted by SerHulse (709 posts) -

Hey, at least it looks like the Fire Starter won't be Fire/Fighting again!

That's a plus.

I'll probably be getting Pokémon Y, since the deer thing for X looks pretty dumb.

#29 Posted by LordXavierBritish (6652 posts) -

This is probably the best looking Pokemon game since the first GBA entrees, and I don't mean just the aesthetics.

I put like fucking 100 hours into DQM Joker 2 so I know that I am not the problem, hopefully they will do something as interesting with the gameplay as they've done with the art.

I honestly can't believe it finally happened.

#31 Posted by Falconer (1833 posts) -

I played the shit out of Diamond in one weekend when it came out and that was the last Pokemon game I played. I later sold my DS, only to regret it when SoulSilver came out (Crystal was by far my favorite game/generation). I think I'm going to have to get a 3DS for this. Pokemon Stadium was super rad, and I'm surprised it's taken Nintendo this long to return to something like that. Gym battles have potential for being super rad in X/Y.

PS - For those bitching about the name, think about it. First two are X and Y. Third will be Z. The 3DS is, well, 3D... huh huh *nudge nudge*.

#32 Posted by WinterSnowblind (7595 posts) -

The best thing about this is probably the worldwide release date. Japan usually gets these things months (over a year in some cases) before us and it's been impossible to play through them without already knowing what all of the new Pokemon are. I really look forward to being able to play this without all of new critters being spoiled.. besides the ones shown ahead of time, of course.

#33 Posted by panvixyl (337 posts) -

Oh man, this new art style is freaking me out.

#34 Posted by Bigheart711 (1272 posts) -

This looks much better than I thought! I assume that they must've worked on this the same time as they did with Black 2/White 2, however...

#35 Posted by LiquidPrince (16488 posts) -

That actually looks pretty awesome.

#36 Posted by Maystack (928 posts) -

Looks awesome. Can't wait.

But to be fair, Tepig didn't exactly look like it would turn into a giant wrestler big. I wouldn't be surprised if Gamefreak did it again just to mess with people.

Actually, the Pikachu 3DS XL is readily available in Europe. It's still just the US missing it.

(And I'm a US gamer, despite living in Europe, so I lament this)

#39 Posted by zyn (2765 posts) -

I still need to buy and play White and White 2!

#40 Posted by Akyho (1817 posts) -

Watched through and went "yeah...pokemon look stupid. If I was to play, probs the frog. Oh hey animations...HANG ON ITS IN 3D!! Ok I need to play this now!!"

I am so easily bought.

#41 Edited by Ducksworth (670 posts) -

Haven't played pokemon since Gold/Silver, I can't wait for this. Going to get the superior Y chromosome version, boys rule girls drool.

This year has barely started and the announcements we've had thus far are mind blowing. Good start 2013, good start.

#42 Posted by hwy_61 (1033 posts) -

I was gonna come in here to talk all sorts of shit, but then I saw Froakie. PREORDERED.

#43 Posted by MooseyMcMan (11968 posts) -

Until they make a new Pokemon game that only has the original 151 Pokemon, I remain uninterested.

#44 Posted by MaFoLu (1871 posts) -

I think it's hilarious that they are just calling it X and Y now. Like, really hilarious.

#45 Posted by AngelN7 (2999 posts) -

So the Pokemon are still sprites?... that's not 3D! and nobody is gonna pick up Y when there's a game called Pokemon X.

#46 Posted by StrainedEyes (1353 posts) -

I hope, with the 3DSs app system, they make transferring up to the new gen easy. Some kind of app that pulls out the data from Black/White so it can be pulled into X/Y. Needing a second system to transfer over 400 Pokemon is a huge pain.

Er, did you watch the trailer? They're all 3D models.

They will never do that, Pokemon is their main seller of handhelds.

So is this the pokemon/ xx/xy crossover?

Then you will never play a Pokémon game for the rest of time.
