Pokemon X and Pokemon Y was just announced on the new Nintendo Direct. Confirmed for a Worldwide release this October for Nintendo 3DS. Once some artwork and videos pop up for it, I will update this post of if someone else finds them before I fall asleep, post on in this thread.
Pokémon X/Y
Game » consists of 16 releases. Released Oct 12, 2013
The first Pokémon games on the 3DS and the first to be released simultaneously worldwide.
Pokemon Gen. 6 begins - Pokemon X and Pokemon Y just announced.
I'm in love.
We finally have a 3D Pokemon game and it looks amazing. New starter designs are pretty neat too, not the best ever, but likeable enough. All we need now is customisable trainers.
I think it's about time they made the jump to 3D, and this might be the game to make me buy a 3DS (well this and definitely Pushmo/Crashmo and a few others).. But I'm kinda disappointed that's theres not more to the combat, the animation looks neat but now that there 3D it's a complete waste to have them stand on these invisible platforms and not interact..
Otherwise I'm finally back into Pokemon.. first time since Gold/Silver
Froakie looks pretty good, not sure about the other too. The jump to a proper 3D perspective is absolutely the way to go, but as others have said, the combat still looks like it's operating on the basic traditional principles of a Pokemon game. Nevertheless, it looks good, and could get me back into the series after a long hiatus. Some MMO elements would absolutely sell me on it, but I don't know how possible that would be.

The combat looks like pokemon stadium. 3D models that perform moves but don't interact. Unless they create a massive amount of animations for the pokemon battles, repetition would become a problem. Animating 500+ pokemon and having unique battle moves for when they interact (froakie vs fennekin has to look different than fennekin vs chespin) seems almost impossible.
And here was me hoping that MAYBE....Nintendo would go "hey, its a full pokemon game for your Wii U. Since that thing is kinda a 3DS now and would be awesome to finally get off our asses and do. Instead of half-assing it with a stadium game every year".
Boy, is my face red. Haha. There there, my little Wii U. Your still at least having fun playing...........Youtube in my front room. -_- Geezus nintendo.
I eagerly await the Pikachu 3DS that I will buy with this game (as long as it gets released outside Japan). Also damn you Google dictionary telling me that Pikachu is in fact spelled Spinach.
Are you kidding me Pokemon X and Y? I thought it was a place holder for an unannounced title.
The game does look pretty cool though. I really hope they sped up the battles though
This is probably the best looking Pokemon game since the first GBA entrees, and I don't mean just the aesthetics.
I put like fucking 100 hours into DQM Joker 2 so I know that I am not the problem, hopefully they will do something as interesting with the gameplay as they've done with the art.

I honestly can't believe it finally happened.
I played the shit out of Diamond in one weekend when it came out and that was the last Pokemon game I played. I later sold my DS, only to regret it when SoulSilver came out (Crystal was by far my favorite game/generation). I think I'm going to have to get a 3DS for this. Pokemon Stadium was super rad, and I'm surprised it's taken Nintendo this long to return to something like that. Gym battles have potential for being super rad in X/Y.
PS - For those bitching about the name, think about it. First two are X and Y. Third will be Z. The 3DS is, well, 3D... huh huh *nudge nudge*.
The best thing about this is probably the worldwide release date. Japan usually gets these things months (over a year in some cases) before us and it's been impossible to play through them without already knowing what all of the new Pokemon are. I really look forward to being able to play this without all of new critters being spoiled.. besides the ones shown ahead of time, of course.
This looks much better than I thought! I assume that they must've worked on this the same time as they did with Black 2/White 2, however...
Looks awesome. Can't wait.

Hey, at least it looks like the Fire Starter won't be Fire/Fighting again!
That's a plus.
I'll probably be getting Pokémon Y, since the deer thing for X looks pretty dumb.
But to be fair, Tepig didn't exactly look like it would turn into a giant wrestler big. I wouldn't be surprised if Gamefreak did it again just to mess with people.

Actually, the Pikachu 3DS XL is readily available in Europe. It's still just the US missing it.
(And I'm a US gamer, despite living in Europe, so I lament this)
Haven't played pokemon since Gold/Silver, I can't wait for this. Going to get the superior Y chromosome version, boys rule girls drool.
This year has barely started and the announcements we've had thus far are mind blowing. Good start 2013, good start.
I hope, with the 3DSs app system, they make transferring up to the new gen easy. Some kind of app that pulls out the data from Black/White so it can be pulled into X/Y. Needing a second system to transfer over 400 Pokemon is a huge pain.

So the Pokemon are still sprites?... that's not 3D! and nobody is gonna pick up Y when there's a game called Pokemon X.
Er, did you watch the trailer? They're all 3D models.

They will never do that, Pokemon is their main seller of handhelds.
