Sure, why not. I don't have an account, so I guess I'll take the one for new accounts, if you still are offering it.

What are you talking about, it's got 2 right there in the title.

You're right. Putting a 2 in the title while also rebooting the story would be really really weird. If it was a reboot I would expect them to go with "Mirror's Edge: Subtitle"

The Mirror's Edge would be a case where that naming convention isn't all that bad.

I only have a very vague memory of the story of the first Mirror's Edge, but did they really give Faith a full origin story? If they tell an origin story where there wasn't really one before, couldn't it just be a prequel than a complete reboot?

EDIT: @dallas_raines@zeik I'm glad we're all on the same page here.

The only games that really interested me are Quantum Break and D4, which kinda makes sense, if you think about it. I wish they weren't exclusive to the XBox One, but considering the track record of Remedy at least (I'm not sure how long the dev cycle for Deadly Premonition was), there will probably be a price drop before those games actually come out. That's a rather cynical thing to say now that I look at it, but it's also not a very unrealistic expectation, either.

Oh, and Killer Instinct. Because how crazy is it that of all the franchises Rare has, they go with a new Killer Instinct?! It's bananas!

They never said D4 was exclusive like with the other games where they explicitly said it was exclusive. Which makes me wonder if it is exclusive at all or perhaps only a timed exclusive.

I could be wrong, but I thought I saw a Microsoft Studios logo at the end of that D4 trailer. If that is the case, then it would likely be an XBox One exclusive by default unless they decide to release it on the PC as well.

Nice. I enjoyed the first issue and plan on picking up the second one. Brian Wood is one of the best writers in the industry when it comes to writing believable female characters, and he has picked a pretty stellar cast for this book. That being said, I thought a couple of Kitty's lines were a bit much and slightly out of character (she literally says "OMG" twice), but the rest is pretty enjoyable, and I'm interested to see where the story goes from here and, perhaps more importantly, where he takes the characters.

However, I did hear something, I forget where, about the politics of the art in this book that made me feel kind of bad (basically, David Lopez and Terry Dodson are the regular rotating artists on this book, but they got Olivier Coipel to draw the first three issues because they at Marvel wanted to launch the book with "A-list" talent). That may not necessarily be accurate, but if it is, that is a rather cynical way of going about things. It worked, though, obviously. Even I will admit that I was more interested than I probably would be otherwise because of Coipel's involvement with the book (though, to be fair, I also followed Wood and Lopez's similar previous run on the adjectiveless X-Men about a year or so ago, at least before the creative teams started getting all wonky and they both ended up leaving the book).

If anything, though, I would have preferred Lopez to have been the sole artist on the book, as I think his art style is more fitting to the book that Wood is writing. I don't like the whole "rotating artists on our twice-monthly books" thing that Marvel is doing, especially when the styles of the artists are as disparate as those of Lopez and Dodson. But then, I also have a problem with the whole "twice-monthly books" thing that Marvel is doing NOW!, especially since those twice-monthly books cost $3.99.

Also, regarding the advance orders article and on the other end of the Big Two spectrum, The Wake is another pretty interesting book that came out the same day as X-Men #1 and one that people should check out. Scott Snyder is one of the best writers at DC right now and has solid roots at writing horror and suspense, and Sean Murphy has a unique and detailed art style that should really complement the mood of the story. Underwater mystery and monsters!

Both The Wake and X-Men had great debut issues and were some of the most enjoyable comics I read last month.

I'd get Random Access Memories on vinyl, but that requires me to have a record player.

Maybe I should buy a record player.

I actually went from playing the 3DS version to playing the HD version on the PS3, and after playing the demo, it looks like the game made a pretty good transition to the consoles. The game looks okay; it's an up-res of a 3DS game, so it's not going to be on the level of most contemporary games. Having not played the HD version of RE4, I figure that it's probably on par with that, but I could be wrong.

I also haven't played the Campaign in a while (most of my time has been spent playing Raid Mode), but if I remember correctly, the in-game cutscenes that were not pre-rendered didn't have any facial animation when the characters talked, so that's a nice change, even if the lip-syncing seemed a little wonky. They also didn't have any the big loading doors in the demo, so I couldn't tell if the in-level loading was better in the console than it was in the 3DS version, in which the framerate would get really choppy when the game would load before opening a door to a new area. On a positive note, the mini-map in the HD version seems to be at least slightly improved in that they eliminated the strange lag between the character movement and the icon in the map that was present in the 3DS version.

I never played with the Circle Pad Pro, so I'm used to playing with what is labeled as the "Classic" controls in the HD version. The 3DS game, by default, controls like RE4 on the Gamecube (and also like the original version of Deadly Premonition), and I don't have any problems with the controls on the handheld. That said, I found that the "Shooter" controls felt a lot more natural on the console, probably because I felt like "Classic" doesn't really utilize all the buttons on the controller, as well as that I'm more accustomed to playing with traditional shooter controls when I use a console controller.

There are a couple notable changes to the UI options in the HD version. The 3DS version offered both third-person and first-person views while aiming (it defaults to first-person, but I didn't particularly like that so I quickly switched to the third-person view). However, I didn't see the first-person option in the HD version. I can understand that, though; I figured they put the first-person aiming in there so as to not obscure part of the 3DS's small screen with the character's torso, so they don't really need it with the HD version.

The other UI change is one that I noticed and don't particularly agree with is the omission of the option of a laser-sight instead of crosshairs as an aiming reticle. This also kind of makes sense; I mainly used the laser-sight in the 3DS version because I thought the crosshairs obscured too much of what I was looking at and made it harder to aim, so that problem is a lot less prominent on a larger screen. However, I also feel like the laser-sight is a Resident Evil thing, so I miss having that option.

I agree that the demo was a little short and that it probably could have benefited from a playable mission in Raid Mode. Like I said, I spent most of my time with the 3DS version in Raid Mode, and I think that it's the main draw of the game. The leveling and the acquiring of level-based weapons are pretty rewarding, and though I've only played it Solo, I think it'd be a good bit of fun when played with multiple people, so it would've been nice to be able to try that out on the console.

So there are a couple different quirks, but it looks like the HD version is a pretty good port of the 3DS version, albeit one that doesn't seem to have much in terms of new content exclusive to the console. Because of that, I'm not sure that it's worth picking up if you already have the 3DS version (and if you have a 3DS, you can pick it up for about $20 at this point), but if you haven't played it, it's a pretty fun experience. The story doesn't really make any sort of sense, especially in the context of the rest of the series (how does this story of a ruined giant floating island colony take place prior to RE5 and 6 and yet never come up in either of those games?), so the Campaign is a bit ridiculous in that regard, but the Raid Mode is a lot of fun. For what it's worth, despite being strangely detached from the rest of the series other than the fact that it has Chris and Jill in the BSAA battling BOWs, I think it's a better Resident Evil experience than RE6. And I liked RE6, so... yeah.
