I say you should read it, Maybe pick up one that will lay out the chronology for you, because once you get out of the first 7 books the chronology is no longer linear. 
 
Ruth is considered one of the greatest literary love stories in all history.  
 
I think you should read it and try to understand it, don't give it a cursory glance.  Especially in Proverbs. There is a lot of depth in there.
