It probably won't come as a huge surprise but Mass Effect 2 is definitely my game of the year so far. To illustrate that point, I'm going through on Legendary at the moment and despite the fact that it's kicking my ass I'm still really enjoying it, this coming from someone that rarely bothers with the harder difficulties in games. If I do, it's usual only for points, and even then only with much resentment and controller breaking. The fact that it's changed the habit of a lifetime has got to say something positive about the game.

Even with that love though, I still had to look it up and make sure it had been released this year. It seems like such a long time ago, and so many other great games have been released in the meantime. It's going to have some stiff competition when the time comes.

Looks like this will be a good opportunity to pick up a couple of arcade games that I've been putting off buying for so long. But which ones to purchase? There are so many to choose from. Hmmm.......

Just completed it. Fun quest, even if I'm not much of a basketball fan.

My first reaction was excitement, followed half a second later by suspicion and doubt due to the fact that Bethesda hasn't said anything about it in years. I then looked at the link and just rolled my eyes. Please check your sources before posting. It's not good for anyone concerned. :|

Perfect Dark Zero was the first game that I both saw and played. Quite funny really. I remember watching a friend of mine play it for a bit and being impressed by how easy he made it looked. Being used to shooters on the PC I was familiar to the old keyboard and mouse set up, but feeling cocky I said I show him how it was done. Embarrassing doesn't even begin to describe it. I just could get the hang of it. Took a long time for me to live that one down, I can tell you. The funniest thing of all though is that I'm now far better at using a controller than I ever was with a mouse. How times have changed.

Yeah, I use Facebook and Twitter quite regularly. I find it's a good way to keeping in touch with people you don't see very often. I've met people from all over the world so using more traditional forms of communication isn't always a viable option. Hurray for social networking!

A brown t-shirt with "Classic Ski - Courchevel" on it. Also has a picture of a little skier dude. I'm just getting in the mood for winter. :)

@StressedOutCat: Yes, you're absolutely right. It's a sad fact of life that as times goes on our commitments increase and free-time becomes an ever-more precious commodity, which means that certainly past pleasures must be left behind, or at least cut back. You have to start thinking if spending money on all of those big releases is really a wise investment, or whether that money could be better spent elsewhere. Like you said, it isn't always easy to justify, even if you do have the money. Speaking personally, I am finding it increasingly difficult to find the time to have a good gaming session, even at the weekend, but as it is something that I enjoy so much I do still try and make some time for it.

The one thing that I have found that's helped a lot to keep this passion going is rental services like LoveFilm. It is an extra cost, but overall I have saved a huge amount of money renting both games and films, that I may have bought instead. The fact that you don't have to worry about late fees also adds to its benefit. Frankly, if it hadn't been for that service I probably would have given up with games for the most part by now, but it's given me the opportunity to keep the hobby alive without breaking the bank.

I suppose ultimately, if you are really passionate about it, you have to make allowances and try to find a way that allows you to continue to joy yourself, while not getting in the way of the important stuff. It may not be as much as it was before, but at least it's something. It's a tricky thing to balance, but hopefully we both work it out one way or the other. I would rather not give up gaming completely.
