@hippie_genocide: After about 5 minutes of actually playing the game, you'll quickly realize that the party members aren't all "slight variations on the same walmart goth generic mopey 20-something". Prompto especially has a habit of being so overly cheerful that it can be annoying at times. Noctis is the only one who seems super mopey, but to be fair, his character actually does have reason to be mopey.
The characters can be a bit one-note, not in the particular way you're describing. You also have some clothing options for the characters that can help differentiate their appearances, though it's very little.
I honestly don't know if my favorite part of this stream was the vape cloud platform or chat getting Dan to make ridiculous noises and him thinking they were legitimately trying to help him learn how to roll his Rs.
@ames: Yeah, that's generally what turns me off of third person mobas. Something about the camera angle makes it seem like games play out in slow motion.
I'll give this a try at some point, it at least looks more interesting than Smite.
When Dan can't even figure out what the inventory expander item does, who knows what's a bug and what's something he just doesn't understand?
Yeah, I'm kind of curious if the thing he kept mentioning about refilling the water canteen was actually a bug or if he just wasn't keeping of track whether it was full or not like he did in this video.
I watched someone else play this game and he didn't seem to be having half the problems Dan was mentioning. That said, some of Dan's criticisms are right on point. The story should be more front and center, the systems to keep track of give you hardly any time to do anything other than keep them topped off, and combat could use some work. Luckily the game is in alpha so there's plenty of time for those concerns to be fixed and I don't see why they wouldn't be.
The vast majority of this information holds true for mobas as well.
It's a shame my tolerance for learning how to play a fighting game is ridiculously low, the amount of depth to get into is something I would really would have dug if I had taken an interest when I was younger and had a thicker skin for being bad.
@ripelivejam: At one point he lets the first boss he fights recover from their downed state and return to full health because he was talking to Dan, which was pretty frustrating to watch.
Not going to rip on Brad but that's totally a Brad move. That's why we love him.
