" The only thing that they didn't explain is how TIM knows everything about th Reapers as Shepard does, he wasn't part of the ME1 storyline just the head of Cerberus which only took part in some side missions that had nothing to do with the Reapers. Now magically this guy knows about the death cycle and everything. I can understand that Cerberus may have found de derelict Reaper but that doesn't explain everything. Maybe Harbinger only wants to find a way to come back to the Milky Way as every cycle but then there is this other 'vanguard' Reaper that figured out that humanity is a genetically better race than the Protheans and just want to wipe out the Collectors so they would start a new human based HQ inside the galactic core. Finally this new slaves would build a baby mass relay in earth (and hide it from the Alliance of course) and that explains why in the ME3 trailer the sky is not full of reapers, the whole fleet can't jump using a baby relay. In conclusion, they can't use the citadel relay anymore and the Collectors (as explained by Mordin) are dumb husks with high tech weapons so TIM that is now indoctrinated or another controlled dude like the Collectors four-legged general wanted the technology of the base to reverse engineer it and build the baby relay. The suicide mission was a success, EDI sent all the mined data to TIM and with both your Paragon/Renegade ending save he can build it in ME3 (freeing Bioware of a crazy branching situation), keeping the base was just secondary to him. I don't believe my own theory, I was trying to think how TIM could be a reaper and still fit to the story. If the Reaper fleet is travelling using conventional FTL method they would reach the Milky Way years even decades after the events of ME2 so Bioware needs to find a way to explain how they attacked Earth and Shepard is not there yet, watching the trailer it's more than obvious than the attack was a surprise atack, they came out of nowhere, if you see a huge cruiser fleet coming from darkspace the allience/council fleet would have been there to defend in the first place. A baby relay built on Earth is a good explanation of how will they jump in (like the Ilos baby relay built on the ground). "
Well thanks for playing "as if" with all that brain power you got over there. Regardless of TIM's heritage, the baby relay theory seems solid. Maybe it's the St. Louis archway? (this could be an entirely new thread) If the TIM was a Reaper, I think his motivation is as a rouge Reaper trying to do one of two things: kill the rest of the Reapers and be the only one left or trying to destroy all the Reapers (including himself) because they are evil so that humanity can flourish.
