@I_smell:I like the idea you're putting forward about Zelda. =] I can't remember who said it but they spoke about wanting to see Zelda move forward from where it seems to be staying. I love Zelda as it is, but you're right. I think I'd love it more if it were to change, yet still of course keep its Zelda-ness about it. I seem to keep going back to OoT rather than buying more Zelda games because in OoT that's the Hyrule I liked. Or, maybe a more accurate thing would be to say, that's the nostalgic feeling I liked! I didn't care much for being able to control weapons with the wii-mote, if anything I found it a nuisance. I want to see Link in a different era, but then I don't want to see him dual-wielding shotguns... well maybe! I guess I'm just one of those people who wants something different but doesn't know what they want! Oh wow, imagine renegade or paragon Link? I always liked Dark Link... =p

So here's an interesting addition to the Zelda conversation: Everyone's first Zelda game is surprising.
The big open fantasy format is great for exploring, and not knowing what you'll find. When you meet the gorons for the first time, or swim to the bottom of Lake Hylia it's brand new. When you bomb the first crack in a wall it's exciting because you think about all the times you've seen that before and the world gets that much deeper.
BUT- in every game after that they do the same things. Playing your second Zelda game, you're already looking out for red boulders, and you can already guess what this boomerang-shaped hole in your inventory is. There's no discovery or exploration any more, or there's much less of it, because we all know that you can walk on lava if you wear the red tunic before we even put the disc in.
 
FEZ was a game heavily inspired by Zelda, and that TOTALLY DID have the sensation of slowly figuring out where you are, piecing together the boundaries of the world, and uncovering a bunch of genuine secrets. I think Zelda should do the Bioshock Infinite thing of just throwing everything out: no more Death Mountain, no more Hookshot, no more Ganon, and make a game where you don't know how high the cieling is, and you can't already guess what the "ice dungeon" is gonna be like before you get there.
I thought I'd write this down cos you guys all seemed unified on keeping all that stuff there, and I feel the opposite way. Note though I've not played every Zelda game.

@I_smell: thanks! and I agree about the stilted audio. Ventrilo has a serious lag problem when it comes to recording, we just have to get back into the habit of holding the talk button down a little longer.

lol thanks for not talking about Mass Effect 3. Hey did you know FEZ and Retro City Rampage were in development for years before they came out? As those games started to form, the whole idea for indie retro games wasn't really tired yet. So that's kinda sad for those guys.
 
Hey a few minutes in, this aint bad!!!!!!!!!! Usually listening to some dude's podcast is like 1-star awful and I quit out after 10 minutes, but if this can get over the hump of having that awkward Skype-conversation pausing stuff then yeah I could listen to every episode.

Times get tough, Lives need to be lived. 2012 was a year for a lot of things, but one of them didn't really involve recording a podcast. I checked, the last TL;DL podcast happened on August 15 2011. That was a long as time ago. So we decided to get back into the swing of things if only because 2012 was over. Contenders Bonbolapti, Ossi, Bene, ApathyLad, Aurahack, Vidiot and quiet newcomer Erz gather and squabble like children. Goddamn Children. Normally we'd also have DolphinButter on the mic, but he had the equally important job of recording.Oh yeah, and we still haven't mastered Ventrilo, so expect some really weird ass cuts.

Plus the fact that we haven't done this in a long time, also introduces the longest podcast we've probably ever done!
