You won't be able to play such amazing exclusives as... Skulls of the Shogun?

In other words, no, right now there is no need to go with Windows 8 for games.

I've always really wanted to play The Show. It's up there with Gungrave and Vampire Hunter D as games I walked past a lot or saw in magazines and for some reason thought "I should play that".

I also don't know anything at all about the sport of baseball and hope this game will teach me.

If you don't follow Baseball at all just pick up one of the previous games. While each game does get a little bit better the improvements are minimal and the main reason to get the newer version is the updated rosters. You can probably get MLB 12 for dirt cheap right now and even MLB 11 is pretty similar.

I completely agree. I picked up MLB 12 for the Vita last week for $8. I don't care about real baseball (I probably couldn't even name five current players), but I enjoy a game every once and a while and that was about the right price. Of course, if you do care about real baseball the updated rosters and stuff might mean something to you.

I think the difference between this and most cases of mass negative reviews is that this is deserved. When people give the new Call of Duty a 1/10, they are just wrong. They might not like the game, but it's not a broken waste of space, in fact, it's not even a bad game. At worst, it's entirely mediocre. SimCity, on the other hand, is completely unplayable. There may be a great game there, but all I can get to is a title screen with buttons that don't work. That's a 1/10 in my book.

I'm fine with it if Amazon is just deleting reviews that have no meaningful content, but they shouldn't be deleting reviews that say the game is a broken mess, because it is.

I really liked Syndicate. I also only paid about $6 for it. I would have been pissed if I had paid $60. The last full-price game that I thought was worth the money was probably Dragon Age: Origins, or Mass Effect 2, I can never remember which of those came out first.

Why would they? I'm not trying to be dismissive, it's a serious question. It doesn't hurt them at all to have their reviews linked from there and it could provide extra traffic.

I imagine Amazon just pulled it after getting so many complaints. It's not worth their time selling a broken product and then having to process the refund requests. Hopefully the perma-one-star review on one of their biggest games on Amazon will teach EA something. I can't imagine they could come back from 1000 one-star reviews to ever have a decent ranking.

Man, I was just looking at those reviews. People are going crazy over there. Then there's like 25 five star reviews, and all of those that I glanced through were sarcastic reviews praising the game as the ultimate waiting simulator. It's officially gotten ugly. And here I thought this whole thing would blow over a couple of days after release.

I just can't see it ever recovering on Amazon. There are way too many terrible reviews. It might have blown over if they had shown any ability to fix the problem, instead, it actually seems to have gotten worse over time. I was able to play for a bit on day one, I got to the region browser before it stopped yesterday, and today I can't even get past the title screen. It's getting crazy that it has been three days and they haven't made any progress.

I think this is great. Every review site should do this. If the game suddenly had a Metacritic score of 10% EA might actually think twice about releasing a broken game.

@cameron: I think what they are implying is that there is a conflict of interest because EA doesn't have to care about the game working on lunch day because so many people have pre-ordered. I think the idea is that EA doesn't have to make a good or even working Simcity game, because have already sold a ton of copies through the pre-order.

Which is of course, bullshit. EA cares very much that Simcity doesn't work. This is damning their image even among the most patient gamers.

Sorry if this posts twice, I wrote something and it said it was posted, but it isn't showing up. Anyway, I just don't know how anyone could think that. The game now has a one-star review on Amazon and that is unlikely to ever change, they would need 1000 five-star reviews just to get to anything near respectable at this point. A bad user score on Metacritic might not mean anything, but a bad score on Amazon does. That's what parents will use to buy games for their kids in December and they sure as hell aren't going to buy the game with a one-star or a two-star average. EA has to care about this.

What the hell is wrong with you people? The game is broken and it's not the consumer's fault for pre-ordering. All complaints about this are completely justified. The expectation should not be that a product won't work, that's just insane. If I buy something, it should work as soon as I get it. If it doesn't the company should offer a refund.
