My Top 20 Games Of All Time

List items

  • Also features the best sniper rifle in gaming history!

  • The original, and still my favourite for its purity.

  • My favourite game of this generation, if you haven't played it please give it a chance!

  • Top quality horror FPS adventuring, complete with live-action cutscenes :D

  • Best platformer on the Megadrive, in my eyes. Innovative, fast, ace music. Nuff said.

  • Stylish SEGA simplicity. Nigh-on perfect.

  • My most-played game of the current generation and multiplayer FPS of choice.

  • I don't think I need to explain this one!

  • A wonderful game with an abundance of heart and soul.

  • Known as Dark Chronicle in the UK, Level 5 really raised their game here. The depth can be bewildering, and the game just keeps on giving.

  • Hard to decide between 2, 3 and 4. 3 just edged it for the level designs. A sublime engine, with near-flawless controls. I still look around in real life for the best possible skating lines and combos down the high street :)

  • The addictive rhythmic combo system and the weapon customisation make this one of the deepest experiences available in gaming.

  • An unashamedly bizarre hybrid of genres. I have no idea of the intended target audience for this Shenmue-flavoured rhythm-action, hardcore mech battling, dating-sim sandbox JRPG. You need to play this game...

  • I can hardly believe the amount of content stuffed on the disc. Set a new standard for console FPS games when it was released. Goldeneye evolved.

  • Many people say Wipeout 2097 (Wipeout XL) is the best in the franchise. They are wrong. So very wrong.

  • A love letter from SEGA to us, themselves and the 1980s.

  • Square's high-water mark in the 16-bit days, the game still holds up now both aesthetically and in gameplay terms.

  • Casually hardcore done right. 4 player matches on Xbox Live are one of my highlights of the current gen.

  • Choosing between this and the sequel gave me a bit of trouble but the original won out due to originality and innovation.

  • I never tire of playing this game. A real kick up the arse for Megadrive gamers at the time. Treasure managed to out-Contra Contra.
