People don't like to spend money on things that they had always gotten for free. I'm waiting for my new card to arrive in the mail so I can pony up for a month to check stuff out.
I played MLG for Halo 3 at both Meadowlands and Orlando, and I have grown to dislike the style of play. I was 15 or so back then, and I'm now 18 and just on't really care about competitive videogame playing. I'd rather play a social objective game and go 50-5, then play MLG and go 15-10. Plus I like using all of the weapons as well, and my friends aren't as good as I so I'd rather just play shit they like.
@LoganHallfin: I haven't paid yet, but I will pony down at least a month to display my support for what I feel is the best gaming site on the web, and for awesome sites like Tested and SCreened which I attend daily. I disagree with the whole bombcast thing, but whatever I'm sure that came from management and not from Jeff or Ryan. It is a business and they need to make money, I think that its cool that they put trust in their community to support them instead of advertising firms. I just hope that their next bloc party will be 18+ rather than 21+, it kind of stinks that I couldn't go because of my age. I am an adult after all. And I know this has to do with the presence of alcohol. But it still kind of blows.
I have family in the bay area, so when I heard of the fire I called them and luckily the fire didn't effect where they were at. Was it just a natural fire, or was it set by something? Because I'm surprised that there hasn't been more this year especially with the year's lack of rainfall and the August heat wave.
