Sorry for your loss Tricky. It's tough to lose a father, no matter how old or young you are.

I don't have a ton of free time for video games anymore, so I only really get into a game during holidays, when I've got lots of free time. I tend to play the smaller games a lot more now - KSP is fun to pop into and play after work, since I can play it and chat online at the same time, but games with intense stories, or games that require a ton of dedication (Skyrim, for example), are game that might be fun for a holiday, but I doubt I'll ever go back to them once the holiday is over. I've done that with games like Mass Effect, Saints Row 2 & 3, Assassin's Creed 1, about half of Assassin's Creed 2, and some others that I'm forgetting. Of course, I haven't played Skyrim, but I know that people claim it eats up a lot of your time, so if I do play it, it'll be during a holiday.

Hellgate: London.

I think that, and Guild Wars were the only games that I have ever pre-ordered. But I may be forgetting something.

I imagine it'll be fine if your PC isn't too old...

Yeah, you'd imagine that, if you haven't played blighttown or 10% of the areas in the game on consoles already..

Yes, you're right. I don't have any idea how well it will run on your PC or mine, and since I must rely on my PC while I'm working overseas, it would be a bummer if were horrible. But I am not someone who buys games on release, so I will be able to watch the reaction before buying it.

If it is unplayable, however, it won't make it past Steam's cert. And if it's not on Steam, I won't be buying it. Of course, I'm putting a lot of faith in Steam, and in the users to say whether the game is worthwhile or not. Who knows, maybe I'll never buy it.

Well this is saddening news. My PC hasn't been working properly for the past 3 weeks and all I wanted to do was play some more Phantasy Star Online 2, eventually at least. Oh well, by the time it finally releases in the US I will have forgotten about it and lost any interest I had in it.

Yeah. I guess a lot of people will be in that boat, unless Jeff reminds us.

Probably financial reasons, just like companies wanting people to buy the non-import copy of a game. Perhaps they think that if people invest too much in the Japanese servers, then who will play the ones in America?

Problem is, some people don't live in America or in Europe. Will they put those clauses on those servers too?

Really, all that they're doing is pissing off a lot of the people who got into the game outside of Japan. They had that in the user agreement during the closed beta, and then took it out. Now they're adding it back. So are they going to remove it again? Or is it here to stay for real this time?

I wonder if this will cause the people who got invested in the game already to lose interest in the entire product, and thus, lowering the amount of people who are actually interested in playing it. The people who were so interested in the game that they invested time, and in some cases, money, are now being screwed over. Will they forget about it and play the PSO2 servers when they come out in America or not?

It really comes off as a slap in the face to some players. I can understand why, but I question if most people will, especially the ones who invested money in the game.

I think that the people who are truly interested in the game will also realize that this move couldn't have been avoided... I don't know. If I was one of them, I would be pissed, but I'd also be excited to start again in a localized version when it comes out. And another plus is that whatever bugs the game has now could be patched by then.

Once it gets localized, I'd be interested in seeing how well it is maintained, and how many people actually play the English version of the game.

It's possible that whatever bugs are in the game could be patched, but that's assuming that the translation team is working with an up-to-date version of the game.

Find out if she has a boyfriend/husband first before you get your expectations too high.

She does not! To my knowledge she's never had a boyfriend.

...How old are you two? Not to be ageist about it, but you two sound real young.

My advice is just relax and be yourself. If you try to act like someone you're not, it'll either freak her out (very likely), or she'll like you for something you're not.
