Best small thing: the TV/movie parodies when you rent a DVD/go to the theater.

Just finished the third palace and I've got to say the English voice acting in the game is excellent, ryuji especially, he so far has had some great deliveries that I've burst out laughing at. There are occasional dips in quality but by far this is one of the best Japanese to English cast games I've seen in ages.

I was also thrown of pretty bad when I heard the pronunciation of certain character names, but I've mostly gotten used to it. Honestly I wish they had voiced more of the incidental dialogue.

But still, I haven't met futaba (best gal?) or the other one yet so maybe their VO is a dumpster fire, but I'm optimistic.

Everything is great except for the pronunciation of names. I thought Sakamoto was bad, I just met Kitagawa and they do the same thing; for some reason the voice actors were told to all emphasize the second syllable (Ki-TA-ga-wa, Sa-KA-mo-to) instead of the third. It's really jarring every time it happens.

@quipido: no problem. To clarify, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless you wanted to go for 100% all confidants/social links, in which case you should be following a guide/waiting for NG+ because if it's anything like persona 4 the timing on those are incredibly tight. Otherwise it'll take around one more extra session to get another rank up without it; for example if a certain response was to give a "+2" to relationship having the arcana would bump it to "+3", so you have to spend less time before the next tier unlocks.

I would recommend you have the same type whenever you hang out anyway; it shouldn't be that difficult to do so and it means you'll get to see more stuff. That being said, if you should happen to not have the right arcana but want to hang out with a certain character I wouldn't let that stop you either. (I don't have a death arcana right now because the one you have access to is fire weakness, and I never fought it again after picking up Ann, it kinda bothers me whenever I spend time with the doctor)

High profile athletic programs also attract donations from wealthy alumni, which gives even more incentive for administrators to look the other way.

And for the parents, there are numerous references to how being on the volleyball team will help get your recommendations/connections/help you get into a good college, so immediately I could picture tiger parents telling the kids to suck it up cause it'll be good for their futures.

@quipido: you don't "need" to but it helps, yes.

And for the record I'm pretty sure they didn't get rid of the need to have a same-arcana persona in Golden either, unless I missed something.

Just wanted to confirm, but killing shadows gives more xp than negotiation, right?

yea, i think so. i haven't seen the point of negotiating outside of gaining more personas since you get xp, money and sometimes and item from killing them.

It seems like it might be worth negotiating if you've already taken out most of the shadows. I feel like asking for money will usually get you more than they're worth individually.

I have very occasionally gotten an SP restore item (soul drops I think?) from asking for an item, so if the enemies are low level then it might be beneficial to ask them for items.

The Igor thing make me angry at first for some reason. When I heard his voice I was like "oh frak this, what have you done!" Then I got over it.

It's the thing that tweaks your brain where you're used to one thing/expecting one thing to be one way, then it's another way.

Same thing happened with Chie's voice actor for P4: Golden when you listen to Jeff and Vinny playing it: I understand their affection for Chie, but the new actor is MUCH better.

Actually disagree. I went back to my Golden save to finish it before starting P5 (amazon fucked up and i'm not getting it until tomorrow). I can't remember what original Chie sounds like as I haven't gone back to the ER since it came out, and Chie's new VA is really grating to me. The actor overemphasizes words in a sentence every time, so that the character sounds really whiny and/or cheesy, like overemphasizing every emotion that the character has in a really unnatural way. I started the NG+ and played for about an hour, and if anything it's worse at the beginning of the game.
