<Minor Spoiler>

Once you made Heropon your leader, you'll never go back. I was sad to have to switch back to Melia in order to complete that Affinity subquest in Colony 9.

Yeah, I'm going total completionist asshole with Xenoblade Chronicles, too, so I feel ya.

First things first, leaving Shulk as your party leader is really doing a disservice to the other characters you'll be running into soon. Needless to say, just past where you are now, I'm having more fun putting Shulk on the bench.

As far as grinding out hearts, yeah, you will probably have to do that. There are 63 Heart-to-Hearts in the game, 3 for relationship (3 for Shulk and Rein, 3 for Shulk and Sharla, 3 for Shulk and Dunban, etc.). Outside of gifting collectibles (which don't forget you can do), the only really way to boost those relationships is being the party member and doing the affinity bursts in battle.

There are some ways to exploit the system though. You get 2 hearts whenever you wake a member from sleep during battle and there are monsters much later in the game that will sleep your characters with each hit... basically just hang out beside the character and spam the "Wake Up" button.

I'm totally prepared to do that should side questing, gifting, and swapping out party members don't get me to max affinity with each character.

Well, I pre-ordered up after reading a few reviews. Pretty excited to give it a shot tomorrow.

@SlasherMan Certainly a good point. I haven't read the length of the initial campaign, if it is 10-12 hours long, that's fine enough.

I could've sworn there was a Quick Look of this already, but I suppose not.

Been doing some research... kinda disappointed that all the content (dungeons, puzzles, monsters, drops) are pre-defined... According to the developer, the replayability is attempting the dungeons with a different collection of characters rather than getting additional loot.

No "Random Dungeon Creation" tools at launch...

@Mento: Riki is absolutely amazing. I was converted into a Heropon fan yesterday. Easily the most versatile member of your party and the most fun to play.

For those that might be really into the quests or completionist, I present to you the Xenoblade Bible:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/wii/960564-xenoblade-chronicles/faqs/62867?page=1

I was about 50 hours into the game when I stumbled upon this. It's shocking just how much content I had missed. Over the holiday weekend, I started all over again and been really enjoying the experience so far. Reminds me a lot of the days when I would settle down with the latest Final Fantasy and the strategy guide and just vanish for weeks.

Also, this google doc is a great resource as well:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?hl=en_US&hl;=en_US&key;=0Anx12MiCQejudHJfUWhOTGd5Wm1uS25ub2FDeE5BekE&type;=view&gid;=10&f;=true&sortcolid;=-1&sortasc;=true&rowsperpage;=250

Like I said, totally optional, you do not need these at all to enjoy the game, but seeing as how a JRPG like this that I really get into appears like once every 5 years, I'm determined to squeeze every ounce of content from this amazing game.

I cannot get anymore excited for this game. As Jeff put it in the quick look for the first game, it's like they made this game specifically for me.
