" My problem with Avatar is whenever I ask why it's so fantastic, all I hear is stuff about the visuals. Yeah that's nice, but I have Baraka and Planet Earth for that. And those are real. It's like no one seems to be able to get past the 3D or the CG effects, and get to the meat of the film. This worries me that there just isn't anything to it other than the visual experience. But a visual experience means nothing to me if it's all computer generated, might as well play a particularly pretty game, or something. "The 3D and CG effects were impressive to me because it didn't come off as: JAWSSSSS 3D ITS IN YOUR FACE AHHHHHHH, the 3D simply served as a way for me to see into a window to experience a movie in a different way That is why so many people can look past the Been there done that story (Even though I think certain things done in the story were really creative) its because it was a really cool experience to see another world fully realized That is what Avatar was about.
