Have not had a chance to watch but hopefully Alex made a sweep of the citadel before the final Tuchanka mission. Some stuff there that will be gone afterwards and pretty sure an old crew member dies if not talked to before then.

She would've died even if he had talked to her. You have to make some pretty non-obvious dialogue choices for her to live.

Thanks to whoever pressured @benpack to play some Shadowbringers music, at least they acknowledged it existed. Best Music 2019!

My favorite moment in real life this year was the writer for Shadowbringers introducing herself at PAX. It's kind of a shame the story is somewhat inaccessible to game reviewers by being at the end of six years worth of MMO story. I thought it was extremely good and it definitely feels like one of the most overlooked games in a lot of sites yearly awards.

I'm sad they didn't bring up the part where Amelie shows up and says her real name is Amerigo, for no reason, and then it's never brought up again and even contradicted by the other dumb things she says about her name.

Or the part where Cliff says "they tell me your name's Sam Porter, but you're actually Sam Bridges" that makes his name being "Sam Porter Bridges" seem like a mistake, because his last name being Bridges is supposed to be part of the reveal of who he is since the stillmother also has the last name Bridges (completely unrelated to the company they work for also being named Bridges).

That game was probably my game of the year until the endings. I don't hate it now, but I can't ignore the bad parts of the story.

I also tie my shoes like @benpack. Maybe it's a tall guy thing.

There's no artificial motion blur at testufo.com but there's plenty of motion blur from my eyes being unable to keep up. Probably more so at 144hz than any of the slower framerates. In video games artificial motion blur is used more often in low framerate games precisely because the frame rate is too low and your eyes are seeing the jumps between frames and not the blur of motion. In movies, the artificial motion blur at lower frame rates gets captured in a more natural way, but that doesn't make it closer to what you would be seeing if not on camera.

I don't know what you're talking about, 144 fps is by far the clearest and the lower framerates all look more and more choppy.

I've never heard of a game using motion blur to cover up bad frame rate. I would think adding post processing effects like motion blur would use more resources and make the framerate even worse.

It's not artificial motion blur if it's captured by a real camera. Also, how is "captured in a more natural way" different from "what you would be seeing if not on camera"?

@danryckert If you wave your hand in front of your face like John Cena, you'll notice that your hand has a bit of motion blur. If your eyes saw at a high framerate then your hand would appear clearer and there would be no blur. So, lower framerate in film better replicates how your eye sees. In a videogame though, if the framerate gets really shitty it doesn't make the game blurry, since there's no actual light moving and being captured by a camera. A screenshot of a game running at 10 FPS looks the same as a screenshot of a game running at 100 FPS. Games will sometimes have extra options to add in image imperfections, like motion blur, to make them look more realistic and less like a fake video game thing.

The Goose Game is just a puzzle game with pretty strict solutions, but because of the deceptively open sandbox nature and weird physics and horrible controls I think the reality of the game is somewhat occluded for some people. It probably doesn't help that people compare it to Hitman, it's nowhere near that level of sandbox or level design. Any freeform solutions to puzzles in the Goose Game are likely the result of physics accidents like what Jeff described with getting on top of the cooler.

I would like a fusing episode where Vinny just grinds shards to power up.

This show was a fun idea.
