Looks like Flatout didn't give me credit since it was in a bundle. I have an extra copy of Wanderlust from a 4-pack that I'll give away here that will certainly put me over $1,000! =D

Deus Ex (as obvious as it may be), particularly, the original. Still my favorite single player experience to this day.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series -- Best atmosphere I have ever seen in a game. Best survival horror game by far IMO.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines -- Kind of a niche game that isn't well known but absolutely loved by those who played it. Definitely the best vampire themed game ever made. It is still, to this day, the closest game I have ever played in comparison to Deus Ex without playing Deus Ex or one of its mods.

Half-Life + Mods - I like to lump this into one in these lists. It completely changed how I think of the FPS genre and to this day, is still more fun for me to play than any other FPS out there. The speed and precision involved is something that is still umatched.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - That atmosphere is still the best I have ever seen. You have to play smart throughout the entire game or you will die several times. A lot of horror games I've played don't feel like they do horror right. I was never that scared with games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil, it was more the shock moments of something popping out of nowhere that scared me. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. scared me at every step I took because of the atmosphere.

Deus Ex - The options!! The ways you can beat the game!! Still to this day, my favorite single player experience. You can beat this game a hundred times over and play it a different way every time.

Battlefield 1942 & 2 - The large scale battles. One person isn't going to make a difference, you have to work together and split your team up evenly in squads to go after different objectives.

Not even sure what to put in the fifth spot, nothing jumps out at me like the above four mentioned.

@Coombs: Tim Minchin is such an underappreciated comedian, he really is hilarious. XD

My personal favorite is Jim Gaffigan. I do have a long list I could go through, but I'll just leave it to one.

It's a couple years old now but here's a great piece by Penn & Teller that explains the Bullshit behind blaming video games on violence. It's actually really informative and incredibly entertaining!

I would definitely play it. I remember I played it on PS3 through Gamefly but was totally put off by the strategy portion and never finished it, but I'd definitely give it another go, especially with a keyboard and mouse! Hope this is true.

@FancySoapsMan said:

obviously no game is perfect, but there are some games where the good parts are so good, that I can overlook any flaw.

for example:

-Persona 3:FES. I can't remember a single bad moment spent with this game. Even when I decided to go back about 5 hours to grind before the final boss. Not a perfect game, definitely a perfect experience.

-Deus Ex. The graphics look like dick by today's standards and the shooting was probably never any good to begin with... I can forgive all of those issues though because few other games are as absorbing and compelling. Taking on countless secret organizations and government conspiracies in a dark, oppressive world is some good fun. No game since has really matched the atmosphere of Deus Ex.

-Morrowind. Basically the same situation as Deus Ex. mediocre gameplay, excellent lore and a bizarre but compelling world to explore.

Regarding Deus Ex, your graphics argument is pretty pointless because of course a game 13-14 years old is going to look terrible by today's standards... I'm not sure why you even brought that up, the graphics were great by the standards of games at the time. As for shooting, it's an RPG. You're supposed to level up your abilities with weapons and when you do, towards endgame, shooting is perfect. I guess if you call it a FPS then yeah, shooting is bad, but it's not an FPS, it's an RPG.

Also, Deus Ex, even though it was my favorite single player game of all time, I would personally take the atmosphere of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series over Deus Ex.

As for my perfect games, Deus Ex would be one, Half Life would be another (although that's mainly just for singleplayer, some strange bugs really become apparent playing online with mods), and Chrono Trigger. Not many, but I think there have been a couple.

I don't really get the hatred they have against them. Is it because of how little they offer for trades and then how high they mark them up? eBay can solve that, you'll get more for games you sell and you pay less for games you buy.

But I'm not surprised they are closing quite a few down. In a couple towns over, which is really a 5 minute drive down the highway, there are 4 Gamestops within a 3 mile radius. Even worse, two of those four, ARE IN THE SAME MALL! That's right. Two Gamestops, in one mall, at complete opposite ends... One used to be an EB Games but I don't know the story there. Regardless, completely ridiculous to have two of the same store in the same mall. That's probably why they're closing a bunch down.
