@hexpane:@jakob187: As a reply to this 4-year-old post...this only further perpetuates that:

1. This game is under-appreciated

2. There are people (like myself and both of you, guys) who would want this game to get a sequel

3. I REALLY, REALLY, REEEEEEAAAAAAALLLYYYYYY WANT A SEQUEL, OR A HD REMAKE (please, not a reboot).

I actually figured out early on that you should avoid chaining above 5 or 6 hits (can't recall the exact number) and also making use of potions to lower down risk when you have to. I preemptively stop trying to go for longer chains just to avoid screwing up and ending up with an unnecessarily high risk meter. You just have to stop chaining then attack the enemy again to reset.

EDIT: I beat the game when I was 13 y.o., a year and a half after I started playing it. I was pretty much really focused on school and I didn't play game a lot at that age but the game has stuck with me for awhile..

I need to go back to playing this since in hindsight the game in some ways was ahead of its time but at the same time it never really caught on in the next 2 generations of games. I've always thought Vagrant Story as a great game that never really got it props in the larger gaming community. Hell, even the whole story in hindsight was helluva lot better than what we get in most games these days.

JEFF GREEN FOR CEO!!!!!

This I can get behind. Screw the Peter Moore supporters.

Jeff Green for EA CEO 2013
Jeff Green for EA CEO 2013

I would be totally on board with this, but after what he was saying about teenage girls on the Tested Dadcast I don't think anyone would make him president of anything. (I still throw all my support at him nonetheless)

To be fair, he was sharing a cautionary tale and that was another dad who said that teenager bit in his story.

@mariachimacabre:@psylah: @nictel: @krataur: Thanks for the info dump guys. Now this is going to lead me down a rabbit's hole of movie production screw-ups.

With the case of Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down, I wonder if the writer of the script must have shopped this around and one studio initially rejected his idea but then studio later on decided to make a movie out of the same premise around the same time the original script/idea was being accepted in a different studio.

Yeah the Olympus Has Fallen/White House Down thing is really odd. The plotpoints they have on Wikipedia are virtually identical. Roland Emmerich directed WHD so maybe we'll get an appearance by Godzilla.

Exactly, they're pretty much the same thing if you take out every possible subplot in both movies.

@krataur: Oh that's just one of the worst things ever.

Also unlike Transformers, it has cheap special effects and a subplot involving lesbians

Wikipedia

Wel.. That actually sounds better than Transformers. I did not like that movie.

They should have turned this into a porn movie and also released an R-rated version like Pirates and Pirates II

is this year's Deep Impact/Armageddon or Dante's Peak/Volcano. Once again Hollywood has been struck with two movies that are about pretty much the same thing coming out in the same year. Any duders here care to share another pair or a number of movies with a very similar premise coming out within 12 months of one another? Also I'm not talking about something like say "The Dark Knight and Iron Man are movies about comic book super hero/heroes with no superpowers who use gadgets", etc.
