Feel a little 50/50 on the name of the game, though I'm not sure what else they would have called it. Generally speaking I don't get the feeling that my friends who played Skyrim and/or Oblivion know that's part of Elder Scrolls, crazy as that sounds. Like if you asked them while they were playing it they'd say Oh sure but ask years later, "hey man, wasn't ESV great?" and they'd say "I never played it". Kind of like watching Game of Thrones but having never heard of A Song of Ice & Fire.
Detective Holder is the best part of the Killing. He has a moment in one episode where he actually slaps this evil woman in the face with a warrant. Gotta see it to believe it.
Will watch it one day.
I loved that bit, I laughed out loud, he really redeemed himself in that episode.
Oh yeah duder I felt the same way, that episode flips a switch for the character. Kind of excited to see what Netflix does with the show when it comes back.
Pretty much every forum on earth needs a stickied Final Fantasy thread that is just a poll for what to play followed by the the tens of thousands of millions of comments explaining why this or that one is where you should start. Y'all realize we'll be answering this question until the end of time right?
Frankly, I think there is way too much hype surround VI to start there. VII is in a similar boat, though it's hype/hate at this point in time.
I'd say start with IV. For all intents and purposes that's where a lot of Final Fantasy really starts. I-III ain't bad but they are far, far more simple. Starting IV will give you a lot of appreciation for how the series changed. I can't even remember V but that doesn't mean it's not great. It could be. After IV you should pretty much just go VI thru XII.
I think sewers are cool. Caves can fuck right off though, it's an annoying excuse to have really linear levels, with dank boring art. I mean I guess a cave could be cool, but I haven't seen one yet.
Did you ever play the original Gears of War? I felt like that was the only game I ever played where I walked into a cave and went "Woow it's so amazing!". That affect could be lost now, but man they looked good.
And yes, I felt dirty being excited about caves.
They cheated, because their cave was enormous.
hahaha yup - and now that you mention it, maybe my whole problem with caves is how cramped they are. There are probably a lot of big ass caves in games that I really like. Didn't Half-Life 2 have a kind of cool cave early on? Don't think it was that big..
Awesome! Please keep writing these. I'm one of those people who is always on the edge of "about to play EVE". For now I can at least read this. I don't have much meaningful to add, just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed reading and hope you post more stories in the future.
