I'm so glad I mistyped Gamestop.com and landed on GameSpot some 15 years ago. I've been here since Arrow Pointing Down and How To Build a Bomb. Even though it's been a few years since I've kept up listened to every single Bombcast or watched every Quick Look, I've stayed a Premium member because I love Giant Bomb. This hits very hard.

@slaegar:Storage was a big concern for me, especially since the only expansion for Series S/X games is that Seagate drive for $220. I have 3 Series S/X games downloaded, 1 360 game, and 2 360 games and I'm at 45% full. So I don't think it's going to be that huge of an issue since I'll realistically, be playing 1 maybe 2 games at a time. Still a bit annoying, though. At least 360 games can go on any USB external drive.

Yeah, I don't love the look of the S at all. I wish it were all black if I had a choice.

@av_gamer: This is what I'm talking about! I haven't even dug into the library this deep. Fight Night Champion & SSX were games I loved back on 360. I would totally go back and play those again.

I need to look into the PC side a bit more. I have Game Pass Ultimate, mostly for the Xbox Live Gold membership, which I let end a few years ago. I know there was at least A Plague Tale, that I wanted to check out.

@bigsocrates: You really hit everything that I'm feeling.

I'm now remembering the early PS4 experience. I was able to grab one maybe 5 months after it came out? There were barely any games that I really needed to play for the first year; trying to justify my purchase playing any PSN indy game that came out. Game Pass solves that issue immediately, even if many of the games are not new but games I haven't had the chance to play albeit a slightly better experience.

I still almost can't believe it. It was all almost by accident, too. The only reason I even looked into Game Pass was I received a $100 Microsoft gift card for my birthday from a family member who knew I "play video games". A nice happy accident. Had that been a PSN gift card, I probably wouldn't be here. Would have used it to buy Outriders and that would have been that.

@oursin_360: thinking back now, PS2 games were $50 new...man that was so long ago. So this was maybe a budget title then? Interesting. Yeah, I'm really excited to re-watch the anime. I remember being blown away when watching it, other than the awful first episode.

@rorie: They did patch that! All controller buttons can be remaped, now.

Definitely not a paid ad, haha.

Appreciate both your opinions on gacha (while I don't appreciate being told to fuck off, haha). Definitely going to think deeper on this gacha stuff and look into it more. My own personal experience has really just been with Marvel Puzzle Quest a few years back which has this system. I did say and do feel that spending real money is not worth it & stand by my post.

@bigsocrates: All valid points. For whatever reason; I completely expected to hit that 10-15 hour wall of eh this is getting TOO boring but I just haven't. It's definitely like that in the early hours of the game when killing mobs takes no skill. But as the world level increases, I haven't had that problem. I just hit world level 5 and it takes quite a bit of strategy to make it through encounters.

There always seems like something different to do if it's getting repetitive. Could it use way more enemy variety? Definitely.

As for the gambling -- if you have a problem, yeah, stay away.

I've been thinking about the rest of the gacha/addiction stuff for future post. I'm not someone that has ever been addicted to this kind of stuff; weapon skins, mobile game walls, etc.

It's definitely exploitative, but at what point (and this is just me thinking out loud, not asking you for an answer) is it -- you're an adult, and you need to make better decisions?
