It's difficult to assess one final fantasy game against another these days because they take so damn long to come out that you almost have to hold them to different standards. True enough FF13's linear nature really sucked, but I did enjoy the story and the gameplay. It's frustrating when they force you to be Vanille or Hope for an hour or so at a time, but once you get to pick between them I think the game gets really good.
Perhaps the lack of wait will lessen expectations... then again it'll be only the second official sequel so forget that idea. Anyway, I'm open to it, Lightning was a good protagonist.
I've yet to actually jump into the multiplayer, wanted to get the single finished first. Slightly worried there's going to be a huge gap in player quality, steep lever of entry or whatever. I'll give it a go soon though, and free DLC is awesome.
I got both demos and I thought NBA2K11 sucked and Elite was kinda cool. Then my buddy bought 2K11 and I played it for a while, loved it, bought it myself, and it absolutely wipes the floor with Elite, both from the actual gameplay and features perspectives. It's more realistic, challenging, and deeper, and it just has an insane number of modes and the attention to detail is staggering.
All of this being said, I wouldn't say Elite sucks, it just isn't as good. I didn't get the jesus glitch or a glitch of any kind for that matter. I think they could still have released it and done solid numbers, but if they want to compete with 2K at this point then they need to invest a lot of time and money into developing something truer to life and with as many extras as 2K has to make it feel special. The DNA system for example, is awesome, and having the rights to FIBA is kinda cool, but those are the best things the series has going for it, and 2K offers free roster updates almost instantly and Michael friggin Jordan, as well as other legends on classic teams, which is better than FIBA, so they're matching them and then going beyond.
Maybe it's time we moved into the realms of non-annual sports games... though I'm sure the sheer volume of sales will prevent that.
I'd need to know in advance what the 3rd and 4th DLC packs are to consider this. Of the two currently announced packs I'd get the first but not the second. 3 and 4 would need to contain new wrestlers, not just costumes and arenas to interest me. If I'm not going to get 2 of the 3 or 3 of the 4, then there's no point in this in my opinion.
I demand Daniel Bryan in pack 3 or 4. I read the interview about why he isn't in the game, but it can't really take THAT long to create a character, especially if they're not going to appear in story mode or anything like that.
Speaking of which, a DLC Road to Wrestlemania story would be cool, but I imagine that's a huuuuge file size so probably won't happen.
Didn't 2K decide not to release a hockey game this year because EA are kicking their ass so bad? I guess this is the revenge?
I got the demo today, and I really like it. It's ridiculously difficult to get used to the differences in controls, but when you start to, you realise it makes more sense as they are now... although I'd prefer to use X to pass than a shoulder button, but hey.
I've seen the Jesus glitch, and the complaints about non-responsive controls, but I've experienced neither of these myself, so I'm kinda bummed out that the game isn't coming out in full form.
