5 Days.

  • 5 days until I drive home from class to pick up Street Fighter IV.
  • 5 days until I know if my friend will be able to get me the $80 arcade stick for $40.
  • 5 days until I can take my new character that I was okay with all along but never played with him much because I thought he was cheap, Ryu, into a brand new game that is almost the same as the old one but with some new things in it to face YOU!

Yes. 5 more days until I get to play SFIV for about an hour before I have to study for tests and do papers. DAMNIT! Maybe I'll just neglect my school work for a bit so I can get some game time in with YOU!

Yeah, I'm calling you out son. WHAT!

Next Tuesday, make sure that you are available to VS. me on Live. If I'm not on your friends list, my GT is hairybeast87.

See ya on Tuesday.

Street Fighter IV Dilemma

Lately, my blogs have been full of rage and frustration toward games that I like. That stops right now. I am not going to have blogs that are all about the bad things about a game and will not bash anymore because it gets old pretty quick. So on a final note related to my previous blog, Burnout Paradise is a good game and I like it and it's worth $20.

Now, I need your help. I was recently looking on amazon.com at 360 arcade sticks and found out that if I wanted to purchase Street Fighter IV with the $80 stick, it will be around $140. $140?! This will be the most money that I ever spend to play a video game.  If I spend the rest of my Christmas money on that stuff, I will have $10 left.

Now my question to you is, would it be worth the wait for that MadCatz stick or is there another alternative that you personally played with that matches the quality of actual arcade sticks?

Thanks for reading.

Burnout Paradise Frustration!

First off, I'm so damn happy that we got a snow day today. The roads are literally a block of ice and I feel like sh*t so I didn't even want to go to classes today. I plan on doing nothing today but play video games.

Moving on, Burnout Paradise has to be one of the most frustrating games that I have ever purchased for the following reasons,
  • During a race, trying to read the small map in the corner and trying to not crash while going fast as hell is next to impossible.
  • Pressing the Back button to view the map and plan a route is okay, but takes away from the action and makes it almost useless to have a map on screen.
  • Crashing into every little thing every 30 seconds gets old really quick.
  • Not having a teleport feature in the game makes it inconvinient when you need to drive across almost the whole map to reach a junkyard or a new event.
  • Getting within 100 yards of the finish line just to slightly tap the side of a normal traffic car or the side of a barrier in the middle of the road which makes you finish 2nd and fail.
  • Not having the right car for the one event that is closest to you when the previous event ends. You could probably get away with doing almost every type of event with the car you have when you start the game, but when you are getting close to your A license, pick which events you want to do and get a car that will stand up to the challenge. You still have to drive to the junkyard to get the car.
  • That damn DJ that always has something to say when you don't want to hear him, especially after losing an event.
  • When it gets dark out, it is almost impossible to see where you are going and need to look at the map for guidance.....BAM! You crash.
  • The speed in the game is a thrill and a downfall. You better have the right car for a race that takes place up in the mountains because of the winding roads. If not, you'll hug the side barriers in order to make turns and keep speed. Also, there are, at times, too many cars on the road that get in your way and you wind up crashing all the time

There are a ton of frustrating things about this game that make you question even purchasing it while playing through most of the beginning. I would say grind it out for a little bit, it all pays off when you finally get that one car that feels natural and controls in a way that makes you feel superior to everyone else.

New Game Vlog

BTW. I'm sick and I look like I'm really tired at the same time. I don't know what is making me sick and it sucks.

I love Street Fighter.

Today, I started playing SSFIITHDR and wound up getting my ass handed to me several times online. I don't know what it is exactly, but I really lost my touch in Street Fighter II. I've been playing this game ever since I could remember and now, my skills are almost equivilant to that of a potato. It makes me really question myself as to whether I should even pick up Street Fighter IV once it releases in a month.

There are several ways I could go about this situation.
  1. Suck it up, keep playing until I can at least be equal to some of the people on Xbox Live using the 360 controller...
  2. Invest in an arcade stick and get better the way Street Fighter is meant to be played. I was looking on amazon and found THIS one and was wondering if that was the stick everyone was going crazy over.
  3. Fart.
  4. Buy The Maw.
  5. Train with friends who have those games on Xbox Live to prepare for an onslaught.
  6. Come to terms with reality and quit playing to save the aggrivation and money.
As you can see, I have some serious thinking to do about my days with Street Fighter. Also, has anyone bought The Maw? It looks like a fun game, but looks like I would only play it once and then not go back to it after I beat it. That is a huge problem with games today. Most games have you play through it and then there really is no reason to go back to it, like... Okay I'm drawing a blank here but you know what I'm saying right?

Have there been any games that you played through and wound up feeling that there was no reason to play through it a second time?

Hairy Update

What's up? This is my last weekend that I get to really game before I get back into college mode. My classes start up again on Tuesday and I go from Mon-Thurs with Friday's off! WOOO! Hopefully all of my professors are good and don't have trouble with knowing what they are trying to get across to you like certain ones that I've had.

Besides getting ready for school, I've been playing some games from my ever-growing backlog which could date back to the days of the NES. I started a new game in Final Fantasy X with the intention of playing it the whole way through this time. I don't know if anyone else does this, but sometimes with certain games, I just can't seem to play them all the way through because I will most likely lose interest when I get close to the end. So far it has been going good but who knows what is going to happen when next week comes along.

I caught The Wizard on HBO yesterday. Man, what a bad movie that was but I can't help but love it because of the fact that it is based on Video Games! There's a crappy story thrown in there to drive them to California so Jimmy can compete in Video Armageddon and leave his lunchbox at a dinosaur where he last remembers the whole family together, on the account that his twin sister tragically drowned. It was basically a huge Nintendo ad, but it will always bring me back to the good old days of the NES and Super Mario Bros. 3.

One last thing. Did you guys see the news that Final Fantasy XIII won't be coming to the U.S. until sometime after April 2010? That is a very long time. I'm sure some people are going to have an outrage, but in the meantime, enjoy the vast amount of games that will come out this year (mainly Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5). Well that's all that I had to say today.

Happy New Year huh?

Well, not exactly for me. Actually, last year was probably one of the worst years I've had and to have that rolling over into this year, it's off to a rocky start. I won't get into details because I don't want to get into a depressed mode. What I really want to talk about are my views on the games that I got for Christmas.

1. Guitar Hero: World Tour
  • I like this game almost as much as I like to find out that my only loaf of bread is starting to gather mold. That was a little harsh lol. The only reason I wanted this game was for the instruments and I gotta say, I love them. After playing the Rock Band instruments for a couple of days, I realized that the only way that I can enjoy my rythem games are with redoctane peripherals.
  • The guitar is basically like the guitar from the other games except for the added touch pad, which is okay but not really necessary. The mic is a mic. The drums are the main draw and I really like them because they don't look like 4 bongos and somewhat resembels a drumset? My red pad wasn't working that well but I got my cable today and adjusted the sensetivity and now it works a lot better.

2. AC/DC Rock Band Track Pack
  • I like this game because it acts as a track pack for the main game, Rock Band 2, unlike another game that only makes seperate games that don't allow you to export to the main game. Nothing much to say about this. I'm not a HUGE AC/DC fan but I do enjoy a majority of the songs and I am having fun playing them and that is what matters.

3. Left 4 Dead
  • I had no expectations going into this game but I have heard so many people say that they love this game even though it's short. I honestly believe that this game could have been $40 because of it not having a whole lot of levels and whatnot but at the same time, I could have paid $100 for it and have a blast shooting zombies. I have nothing but the upmost respect for Valve as a company for the fact that they are able to create quality products almost all the time and to make something so simple as just shooting a bunch of zombies, with what reminds me of a counter-strike enginey feel, to be so addicting and highly replayable. I hate how the videogame market is flooded with so much garbage and don't understand why more companies can't take a look at these good games and say, "You know what? Our game is shit. Let's try something else." But I guess I'm just splitting hairs.

I think those were the only games that I got for Christmas because I can't remember anymore. As for Chrono Trigger, I am really debating on whether or not I should actually spend any money toward games looking at my current situation (unemployed, economic crisis, full time college student). On the other hand, it would give me a reason to play my DS and play an old school game. I'll probably wind up buying it tomorrow because when I have money laying around, I have to spend it.

On another hand, who am I Goro?, there are so many games coming out this year that I should probably save my money for them including Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter 4....... Okay I guess it's only those two games that I can think of. I think this year will be awesome for games as last year was almost spectacular.

Need Your Help.

I'm deciding on whether or not to buy Chrono Trigger on the DS. I never played it before and was wondering if it would be a great purchase. I do like RPG's but recently I haven't been into them. So with that, I ask you guys if you think it would be a worthy purchase for me.
