What's really sad is when you find you loath a game you use to enjoy. Chromehounds was like that. Played the fool out of for a year until, finally, I couldn't stand it.
Duke Nukem is exactly what he always was. It's just hard for some people to take dated toilet humor in Dolby Surround Sound and Excruciatingly vivid HD Graphics, that's all.
As a fully self-contained open-world game (non-MMO) Morrowind would be my favorite. There is no place you can not go, no door that will not open, no invisible walls--the only barrier is an endless ocean. Only one of the expansion packs deviated from this. You couldn't levitate over the wall of the capital, or exit it's gates.

The dualshock was the first console controller with the modern configuration. Everything that came before fell into place in the dualshock. The controllers that came afterwards followed in it's footsteps. I prefer the xbox controllers, but there's no denying their lineage.
If MS would let you install all the disks to the hard drive and let you play, with any of the disks in the machine-- it would mute a lot of the criticism.
Oh my God, Advent Rising and the phantom million dollar prize , cotton candy dialogue and wonky control system, glitchy graphics and horrible vehicle controls. Nah, never heard of it.
