WOW at how many of the people in the comments want to bring Tali back. Bioware made sure the game makes sense if you lose her. Even without Tali it dosen't "Ruin." ME3.

She died, live with that action. If I was playing I might have restarted (And if Alex wants to, I respect that.) but I don't see any reason the comment gallery should be trying so hard to get her revived. Don't you wanna see a new way it plays out?

Actually, no, I dont. What I want to see is Alex's reactions to the story in it's most comprehensive form. If I just wanted to see the machinations of the game, I could have watched any number of playthroughs. I'm interested in @alex as a host, and seeing *him* go through the game. Because he has said how much he liked Tali, I would like for him to see her full story and see what he thinks about that arc.

The whole 'live with your choices' thing seems a bit too dogmatic, especially in view of how ME3 ends with StarKid. I think Alex would enjoy *more* the story of ME3 with Tali than without her. But I think we are in agreement, it's Alex's choice.

@teddie: I'm still correct and you're wrong because he made the choice based on just "experience" - ignoring what that character is actually experienced *at* specifically.

Also I've literally chosen Zaeed to lead fire teams and it's resulted in success, whether it's the first or second occassion I can't remember. Regardless, his character history still positions him as more suitable for the role, which only lends to the arguement that Alex didn't spend enough time making an educated decision.

So thank you for just making me more correct!

You may be the only person on the entire internet who used Zaeed, without casualties. Perhaps you misremember , are thinking of a save where you only had a few party members so he was alive due to numbers or you had a golden glitch. But it seems that Zaeed was *not* intended to be a good fireteam lead choice; only Miranda, Jacob, and Garrus (each being loyal) are acceptable.

@garr123: Maybe I'm totally off-base, but I feel like the crew is always needlessly concerned about dead air. I think most of us are here for the team's personalities first and the games second. I feel like their dead-air fear causes so many issues for these long-form videos or series because they don't learn mechanics or miss crucial pieces of info.

It's funny, because the site wasnt always so concerned about such things. I've been re-(re-re-...) watching the original Persona 4 endurance run and there are whole episodes where they practically do nothing but talk through fusing decisions (@alex has even called out these "fusing episodes" in this series). I wish they'd understand that we are more invested in *them*, the hosts, than the games. It would fully be okay for them to take a beat.

AND HOW IN THE EVERLOVING FUCK WOULD CHOOSING A DIFFERENT "LEADER" FOR THE OTHER TEAM MAKE A BIT OF FUCKING DIFFERENCE?

This is actually one thing that 'kinda' makes sense in the context of the game. Because the leader wasn't very good, the second fire team was not there to provide sufficient cover. Hence, a shot was able to make it through. A better leader would have had more of the second squad at the door. For example, in Alex's run, you see Grunt and Legion (current squadmates) hold the door with Samara coming in. In this 'right choice' video ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BscmcT8zjM&list=PLEz_kiJN6ajLS6tOycHKeHKL0jhDW5r2H&index=39 8:20 mark) you see Miranda and Jack (current squadmates) backed up by Jacob (2nd Leader) joined by Thane. That *extra* gun at the door saves the tech spec.

Alex wanted a "pure" experience without hints about what he was supposed to do, and that's what he got, if he didn't want to accept that permadeath could happen he would have read a guide ahead of time... or maybe not picked a solitary warrior monk to lead a military task force.

Alex was never going to get this "'pure' experience" that you type about. We, the community, took that away from him long ago when we told him to do Zaeed's loyalty mission early to ensure Shep could pass the paragon points check. We took that away when we urged him to put off the IFF mission till the end. With the way that he stumbled into the Horizon mission by immediately talking to the Illusive Man, it's possible that he could have done the same with the IFF and lost crew. We prevented that. So the run was never "pure" per se.

@garwalk: I guess I just don't see the point of "100%ing" or having "the perfect run" for a game where decisions matter and have consequences. You're essentially breaking the game by going back or replaying something or editing a save. Tali died, it sucks but this is part of the adventure, this is what makes Alex's playthrough unique. To ignore that seems kinda lame to me. My first ME2 playthrough, Mordin and Jack died (emphasis added). It didn't make it worse it made it much more memorable to me.

Was this is the save file you ultimately imported into ME3? You said "first" so you (probably) had time to create a different file if you wanted to. I'm sure that when the game came out, many replayed ME2 to get the perfect ending (and the achievement ;)) . I wonder how many kept their first playthrough, regardless of the outcome, as their "cannon" through all 3 games.

Full disclosure, I'm team Retcon. Tali is my favorite character in the whole series, even over FemShep.

@ciddative: 'Command loyalty through experience' is a terrible phrase. Miranda and Jacob are still barely trusted by other crewmembers, Jack and alien crew who still see them as Cerberus. Jack was vocal about not trusting Miranda during the meeting. Its asking for something that isn't there, when it just wants experienced team leaders/tacticians. The implication you are left with is Jack is right.

Yeah, I would have never guessed that Miranda was a good choice. Especially since Jack *just* *said* that nobody wants to follow the cheerleader. Jacob I thought was okay because of his Alliance experience, but, ultimately, I figured Garrus was the only one *Shepard* would trust.

Samara as biotic expert was the *only* choice that made sense. And I went with Legion as tech specialist as who would be better at tech than a robot. Also, with Legion, you dont get the desparate cries of 'it's too hot' that you get with Tali and Kasumi. Those pleas unnerve me a bit.

Keelah Se'lai fair Tali! :(

@threeoct: I'm going on everyone surviving except for Mordin . If you do not take them with you into the final battle there is a random chance that they will die, loyalty or no loyalty. It's bullshit.

Unless he makes the wrong squad choices, I dont think Mordin will randomly die. Usually, that character dies because you dont have enough 'defense points' to hold the line (pun intended). But, I think if you leave Zaeed or Grunt to defend, that is enough to ensure no one dies in the last part. And I'm pretty sure he wont take both Zaeed and Grunt into the final battle stage. But we shall see soon!

Does anyone know if Alex is actually leveling his teammates or is it automatic? I've never seen them use more advanced skills or the ammo skills.

They are on auto-level as someone else said. You can tell in this episode especially as Grunt activates his 'squad incendiary ammo' power. You can see many enemies Alex shoots just catch fire and it happens too quickly/often to just chalk up to Mordin's Incinerate.
