@threeoct: I never did a Jacob romance, but reading about it always gets a good laugh out of me because, like... Shepard is gone for 6 months, you fuckin baby. Liara waits 2 whole years and this guy's just over here like "I could not possibly go that long without fucking. It's just not possible."

In fairness, Asari live for a thousand years or so, so 2 years of an asari's life is relatively *less* than six months of a human's life.

If there are other intelligent lifeforms that can reach us, I just don't buy them being hostile. I think people who believe that may be overvaluing humanity and Earth.

I dont think it's 'overvaluing humanity', but rather applying human values. We've seen in history that the 'more advanced' human civilizations have tended to treat the 'aliens' that they have found as hostile or at best, simply 'lesser beings' - savages if you will. Because the explorers valued themselves more highly than the others, they felt justified in just taking what they wanted and any offering resistance were seen as hostiles to be eliminated.

Many people believe that true aliens (distinct species) would have the same reaction, but again, that's just projection. Truth is, we cannot know what their inclination would be. Maybe it would be observation like watching giraffes on the Serengeti or maybe it is a deer hunting trip. I think our evolved 'flight or fight' tends to bias us to 'worst case scenarios.'

Anyway, I love the tenor of Thane's voice.

Oh man I forgot that Jack explodes of the gate by calling Shepherd a "pussy." What a great game.

I played as Renegade so Jack didnt drop this line on me. I was genuinely surprised.

I liked Jack more as a squadmate than I did as a character. I often used her and Grunt on missions once I leveled up Grunt's squad incinerate ammo and no longer needed Mordin to inflame fools. Her 'shitck' (for lack of a better word) grated on me after a while - yes I get it, you'll kill everything and everybody. Lighten up Francis!

I'll say, her character in ME3 was much more well-rounded. I actually like that Jack.

That being said, there is something alluring about crazy.

The genophage thing is one of the most interesting conflicts in the series. If I remember correctly, the salarians were responsible for the rise of the krogans by recruiting them to fight some other shit, but it got out of control.

Mass sterilization is kind of a war crime in its own right, imho. I always felt conflicted on that topic. The lore in this series is great.

"Technically" not sterilization. The 'thought' by the Salarians is that the birthrate of Krogans is so high to compensate for the harsh conditions of their homeworld Tuchanka. When they were 'uplifted' by the Salarians and colonized more lush planets, their birthrate was much greater than the rest of the races. The genophage was meant to reduce birthrates to be in line with other species.

The argument becomes, if the Salarians had not interfered with the Krogans to win the Rachni War, would Krogans kill themselves off in such great numbers that either they go extinct or they could see the ways of 'enlightened' leaders and organically develop means to moderate their birth rates (Krogan Birth Controls pills?!)

Who are the people who said to do the Zaeed mission quickly? Because there's nothing special about it that says it needs to be done soon.

The reason for doing the Zaeed mission early is really only an issue for Paragon Shepards. You have to have a pretty high percent of available Paragon points to secure his loyalty going pure Paragon. It's (supposedly) easier to meet this Paragon morality check if you've had less opportunity to obtain morality points.

But that's just what I read. I went Renegade so it didnt matter in my playthrough. I am glad that he did the Kasumi mission early though. As a Sentinel, that Locust will serve him well!

It doesn't have to become an "all fusing" episode (Alex, ask Vinny/Jeff if you don't know what I mean), but taking 5-10 more minutes to figure something out together with Vinny will help tremendously going forward.

I'm currently re-watching *The* Endurance Run. 10 years went quick!

@nasher27: I forgot how off balance the paragon/renegade stuff got late game. I replayed ME2 this month because of this show, and I went almost full renegade through 90% of the game and still didn't have enough renegade points to recruit Morinth or settle the Tali/Legion argument with no hurt feelings, I guess because those were the last two things I did before the final mission.

Strange, I was able to shout both of them down as a mostly Renegade, but I also had the Overlord DLC (though resolved *that* w/ the Paragon option.) It was also the last recruit mission for me as I wanted to take "him" to "her" mission just to see everyone freak out.

@vinny@alex One big tip to remember. When spending your level up points, you should prioritize your "Defender" class ability. My ranking that up, you get more Paragon/Renegade points per action. You'll need to have high reputation to have access to all the conversation options. Getting the bonus from the class ability will help greatly.

Zaheed *is* a dick, but in a sort of 'Drunk Uncle with the crazy stories' sort of way. Half of the stuff he says is entertaining, but then you'll also look at him with a side-eye as it's so fantastical that you're sure he's embellishing as least some. There is a sequence that allows you to punch him in the face and still get his loyalty, but I didnt go that route.

This is my favorite current GB series. One thing that gets me though is Alex's role play doesnt match his commentary. Alex's first instincts are indeed to go Renegade, but then he makes Shep Shep goody-goody Paragon. I think Jennifer Hale's voice acting on the Renegade routes is *great*. I think Alex would enjoy the game even more if he 'gave in to the dark side' fully.

This may go down as the greatest day in Giant Bomb history. The Endurance Run was way ahead of its time!!!
