It doesn't make any sense to spend years building up the streak as the "biggest thing in sports" only to have it end at the hands of Lesnar. Zero sense. If Taker felt like it was time to end things it would have been preferable to see someone else get the rub instead of a man who can't talk and only wrestles like 3-4 times a year. Give it to Cesaro. Give it to Bray Wyatt. Give it to someone who is going to be in the company a few years from now to give it some actual meaning.
None of those guys have credibility. The crowd would've shit all over them.
Lesner's a beast and former UFC Champion. Oh, and he beat Taker before. Undefeated vs Taker in PPVs.
We all know Lesnar is a badass but does that really give him the credibility to beat the american badass? I think fans of the wwe are also fans of tradition and understand that the streak is kind of like a "passing of the torch" to a guy who might be the next taker. A guy who spent 21 or some odd years with the WWE. I don't think fans are at all thrilled a part timer, a guy who has spurned wrestling fans before to try something different like football are all that thrilled he beat the streak.
