I'm wondering if, like the car business, certain game memorabilia comes in and out of periods of high demand and rarity. If there's anyone here on GB that seriously collects rare, vintage goods from gaming history, could you tell us what the hot ticket items are? And what periods are considered recent classics fetching high prices vs. ones that you can get for a steal that might go way up in value down the road? Do you have anything super rare, something that might not even have a page here on GB? I'm sure a lot of us have heard of the Panasonic GameCube, the Sony PSX PS2, the Majesco Genesis 3, and the Sanyo 3D0, might someone here own something even more obscure? I read a while back that IBM made some kind of PC attachment edition of a game console, I think for Sega, like a Saturn that hooked up to PCs... But maybe I'm remembering wrong.

Any JRPG period. THey WILL become insanely harder to find over time and will fetch insane amounts of cash later on if taken care of. I have Xenoblade just for that reason. Gamestop exclusive+nintendo shop and very limited amounts of art books=SHITTON of cash later on. Same with most pre-orders you can hold.

Oh, and SNES games are getting insanely overpriced, mainly for ones that have not been rereleased such as Earthbound which is now currently fetching 200 bucks easily. (If you have a cartridge of this... then **** you! Seriously, I myself have been looking for this game FOR YEARS!!!)

The rarest games though are ones which were produced in a very limited quantity and late in a console cycle. It will most likely go unnoticed until the collectors market hears news about it. I am fully expecting Fragile Dreams to have this happen, or Devil Survivor 2 happen to it.

@mutha3: Competition and survival instead of order? Why?
Complete order is stagnation and stagnation is death, regardless of whether it's an organic species, economic institution, or political entity. It is one of the absolute laws of the world.
Indeed. Except that in the ending, you will change the absolute laws of the world. There's is no death, no desire, no feelings or consequences whatsoever, because it's eternal peace and harmony. In fact, i chose the ending because it would fundamentally change the universe, so there would be no bad consequences to eternal order. Okay, you would lose your individuality, but, hey, the new universe is eternal peace, and humanity has been fighting(Ha!) for that for years.

And everyone would be doing what, exactly? There would be no individual thought or free will. If such a world existed, you and I would not be having this conversation right now because the very laws of the natural order would make such an impossibility.

This exactly. Neutrallity for the fucking win constantly. Tell both factions to fuck themselves and do things for yourself and for humanity! That is what I do in those games anyway. Law seems even more evil than Chaos it seems.

@Jay444111: I was going to ask you if fist of the north star was any good, but you wouldn't put it in a request otherwise. There's a TV show and a Manga, isn't there? Which would you recommend?

I love the pace of the show and how it builds up a few fights but there is a bunch of filler and flashback episodes so unless you really enjoy watching Kenshiro wipe everyone out I would recommend skipping those episodes. However the manga is better in that it is way more fast paced. However the build up just isn't the same as the TV show. Another thing is that the TV show does reuse a bunch of animation over and over again. If you don't mind that, you will find a great show. Hell, some of the people that die throughout the series is actually sad to see such characters go.

I would recommend both because they are different enough from each other to be worth going through both. You as an artist would probably love to see the artwork of Fist of the North star though. I mean, holy shit is the art good in those books. Not as good in the TV show but there are moments which are AMAZING!

One last negative, mega amounts of gore in the comic book and the TV show is pretty edited to make sure blood looks like... rainbow blood for some weird reason.

Very much worth getting into the whole series IMO!

I would love a picture of Kenshiro from my avatar pointing at Phoenix Write as they both point each other down with a backdrop being a explosion!

If you want reference, Fist of the North star is where Kenshiro comes from and here is a few pics to help out.

No Caption Provided

That is Kenshiro.

They require a completely different language than any on Earth to use... sadly. Still I would rather keep living in Montana than Namek, and I utterly despise Montana!

This will be secret just for us so it won't go away for some stupid reason. Mainly do NOT like it because somehow youtube deletes videos based on that now for some reason or another.)

Nice! Going to watch!

Planet Namek popped into my head for some reason.

Why? It is all grass and weird lollipop shaped trees... basically the most boring alien planet possible.

My favorite planet would have to be Pokemon world. It is NOT Earth. It is poke-world. I would take over the planet very easily. If a 10 year old can capture a Godlike pokemon I can capture one myself!

proper answers could never be provided.

What about Radical Dreamers or that other stuff for the Satellaview? Or are those useless in that regard? (Also, I think there was a ROM hack that would do a good job of answering those questions, but Square killed it.)

Wait... what are you talking about? I am highly interested now.

@FateOfNever: Exactly! In terms of evil and destruction levels of Galaxy wide infestation of these things is even more of a threat than the damn Reapers from Mass Effect. Fuck, these things could be COMMON in this games universe!

It is a frightening aspect. Maybe he guided evolution just to create more lifeforms to consume... like cows to a slaughter. The thing is so much of a eldritch abomination that we could probably never see how smart or how truly many there are of his species. However... even scarier is that it is more animalistic... if so... then holy shit how the fuck did THAT species evolve!?
