Yes. It wouldn't have changed the fact that all the endings were the same cutscene with a different color scheme, however it would have made the Starchild's appearance not just a random plot twist.
I'm expecting a very long debate over XCOM vs Walking Dead. Brad and Patrick both love Walking Dead, Jeff hates it, and while Ryan put XCOM as his personal game of the year, he also loved Walking Dead. I think people expecting XCOM to get an easy win need to remember the Skyrim vs SR3 debate. People keep saying this argument will hinge on Jeff, but honestly Vinny seems like the swing vote here.
For the record, I love both games and will be happy with either winning.
I'm torn. 3 hit me the hardest, particularly Carley's death. I had to step away from the computer for a few minutes after that. However, I really liked the tone of 2. From the moment I met the St. John brothers, I knew there was something wrong with them, and that episode did a great job of slowly raising that level of dread.
When I first booted up Dota 2 thirteen months ago this was the thing that stopped me from ever booting it up again.
Because googling "Dota 2 for beginners" is hard.
There was no such thing as "Dota 2 for beginners" 13 months ago. There were only a few thousand people with the game. I had no interest in trying to learn LoL or DotA and transferring that knowledge. Some day (when this feature exists) I will play Dota 2.
Just a reminder, the Dreamhack Corsair cup is going on. You can watch the matches live at the link below. The live games and replays for this tournament are also available for free in the game client. It's one of the biggest Dota tournaments, with a lot of great teams, so it should be fun.
The Silent Protagonist is a relic that needs to be retired permanently. If a character is well-written, you can identify with them, no matter how different they might be from you. Making the main character a silent automaton and saying "Hey we did this so you could project yourself onto them!" is just lazy.
It didn't even work in Half-Life. It's absolutely bizarre to see Alyx fall in love with Gordan Freeman when his only means of interacting with the world is to shoot things.
