Game of The Year 2014 Users Choice

  • This game felt like a perfect throw-back to the NES days and also felt modern at the same time. Playing this was a blast and that soundtrack is just fantastic.

  • I adore the Souls franchise and the first Dark Souls is one of my favourite games of all time. I was super excited about Dark Souls 2 and I think it's a great game but unfortunately it didn't reach the same heights as the first one.

  • Nidhogg, Gang Beasts, SpeedRunners, Samurai Gunn and Mount Your Friends have been my favourite multiplayer experiences this year. Nidhogg definitely deserves this spot on my list since I have the best memories from playing Nidhogg and of course it being the only one released in 2014.

  • Jazzpunk was a crazy experience. It's a great amount of fun and it doesn't overstay it's welcome. One of the few games I consider genuinely funny.

  • I've been a fan of the MGS franchise since the PS1 days. I've played through 1, 2 and 3 a dozen times each and 4 for half a dozen. And I'm still ready to play them again. So naturally I'm excited for more MGS. There isn't that much content in Ground Zeroes but boy did it get me excited for Phantom Pain.

  • I was pretty much done with Diablo III but the Reaper of Souls expansion drew me right back. Blasting through bounties and rifts is a great way to pass the time or have something to do while I'm listening to a podcast or something.

  • This year I ended up getting a racing wheel for my PC and of course needed a racing sim to play. Assetto Corsa has proven to be a lot of fun and the simulation feels really good. I just wish there would be more tracks and cars even though I'm quite happy with the current line-up.

  • I've never been a fan of sports games and never thought I would end up buying a golf game. The Golf Club turned out to be quite cool and a nice bit of fun.

  • Fract OSC is a cool first person adventure/puzzle game. It's not too long and the puzzles are fairly simple. Actually I think the puzzles could have been more challenging. The game looks and sounds great and the music cue you get from a completed puzzle always brought a smile to my face.

  • This last spot was abit of a tough call for me. I did like The Walking Dead: Season Two, although I think it's not nearly as good as the first one and I do have my fair share of criticism about it (such as how does a 11-year-old girl end up being the most level headed of the group of survivors).

I also considered Transistor as my number 10 but unfortunately I never finished it.
