I expect a Tracer Tong and Bob Page appearance somewhere.

Yeah like in the first 5 minutes of the game even.

Gabe Newell said this a few months ago, everyone went 'wow, that's so interesting'. BioWare guy says it, and he's being a fuckstick and he's stupid. No standard ever appears to apply to Valve.

Yeah really.  He isn't saying RPG's are becoming less relevant people, he is saying what makes an RPG or being a "true" RPG isn't as important as it used to be and that for Bioware the main concern is being able to make great stories (which is what they love about RPG's) while putting them in great games.  Long story short an RPG doesn't just have to be an RPG and nothing else anymore.   Considering that is blatantly true and the only RPG genre that has refused to really adapt at all is JRPG's I don't really hold it against him for saying it.

Also anyone who thinks Skyrim is a pure RPG has no idea what a pure RPG is.  Skyrim is just another example of the evolution of the genre.  Pure RPG's are games like Wizardy or these things that involve dice and sitting at a table with 4 or more of your buddies.

@DonutFever: He also added that someone else got it by not killing bosses, so it's apparently bugged.

SO BOSSES DO COUNT DUDES, DO NOT KILL THEM.

Well the first boss kills himself no matter what you do....
He might have killed someone he thought was a boss but wasn't.  Like Sanders maybe?  I love the foxiest achievement, just goes to show my hypothesis was right, they pretty much aimed this game to be metal gear solid gameplay smacked together with deus ex RPG/character customization elements.

The first 15 minutes of the game are you touring an office building while people talk about crazy crap and politics in between you hacking their email and exploring women's toilets, which other people will comment on.  So yeah, this is Deus Ex.  It may be "consolized" (in other words have better controls and gameplay) but trust me none of the originals depth or feel is lost, in fact it is improved upon.

You can basically make any piece of gear you've got look like any other piece of gear you've got- it's pretty rad- and running through those old dungeons again is pure nostalgia- for me, anyway.

Uh not exactly.  You can make any plate shoulder armor look like any other plate shoulder armor, but you cant make it look like cloth shoulder armor.  You can make a two hand axe look like any other two hand axe but you can't make it look like a one hand axe or a two hand mace.  So on so forth.

I can only speak for myself but after playing the prebuild the game is a must have.  It is awesome.  Anyone who doesn't like it is someone who just hates this genre of game and probably didn't like the original Deus Ex to boot.

Honestly I say PC for a number of reasons but in all honesty the game plays better on a 360 controller than on a mouse and keyboard.

@Karkarov: thanks man i appreciate it. i think im gonna give it a try
Fair warning though, this game (like all breath of fires) does run into the horrible issue of having a mute protagonist people still reply to like he is actually saying something.

Im really hoping that that the in game advertisements arent too distracting and blatant. that being said im allowing myself to get excited about this game.

Hmmm? I thought they where all sarif and fictional company based?

There is like a "mock" final fantasy poster in one of the sarif offices for something like FF 23 ;p.  It is stuff like that.  I have been playing the pre build last few days and honestly while I see the Alpha Protocol comparisons it is more similar to Metal Gear Solid.  Human Revolution for example is not based on a "skill" system for shooting.  You line up a headshot and pull the trigger, bam headshot, no need to charge or play an RPG mechanic there is no dice rolls like in AP or the original DE.  The augs for shooting do things like allow you to move without causing your aim to get worse (IE your reticule doesn't grow when moving) and stuff like that.  As for those who are concerned about regenning health etc.... one of the challenge settings in the pre build was called literally "Give me Deus Ex".  Under that setting regen didn't matter too much since any enemy that got 2-3 clear shots on me would kill me outright.  So 95% of the time I either didn't get hit in the first place or was loading an earlier save.

Which is another reason why I say it is more like MGS than AP.  There is an extreme focus on stealth here.  Sure you can run and gun, but on the higher difficulty settings which give you a more "original" gameplay feel you do not want to take the attitude of running in with guns blazing.  In AP shooting your way through would work in any given situation and in many of them you had to.  Also like MGS there are tons of alternate routes, ducts, side entrances, out of the way rooms, etc etc.  AP was fairly linear, you may have gotten like two options here and there tops.  I counted no fewer than 3 entrances just to the first building in DE:HR forget about the second area were there were no fewer than 4 different ways to get in the door and accomplish your goals one of which relied on hacking, smooth talking, pure firepower, and a final one stealth all based on the route you choose.  AP was no where near that diverse in it's level design and the gameplay like I said is more similar to MGS with DE RPG aspects added in.

Anyone says this game doesn't measure up to the original Deus Ex is just lying to themselves.  I played a beta version, not even the final product, and it already easily surpassed the original.  Take the rose colored glasses off, any real fan of the original will be more than satisfied with this release.
