platform fanboys.

PC supremacists (nothing is more annoying than the barrage of "is this coming to PC?", "petition to have it on PC!" UGH!)

I know, right? Why should PC gamers be able to play games, they are all dirty pirating scum.
This. Heaven forbid someone wants to play a game on a machine that isn't years out of date before it even hits the production lines. The problem with criticizing "pc supremacy" is that it's kind of like arguing that in a weapon distance contest, throwing knives are just as valid as sniper rifles, and everyone who prefers a rifle is just unjustly shitting on knife-lovers because they don't want to pay the higher price of a rifle yet still do the same thing. Wait, where was I going with this metaphor again? The point is that the PC platform is unquestionably superior to consoles in every single facet except possibly ease of use, and statements like "Why would I want to buy a 300-600 dollar box that does nothing but play games more poorly than the system I use for work/creating stuff/whatever that I already own" is not so much "supremacist" as "logical". Ideally every game would come out for every platform with completely customizable controls.

Quoted for truth.

@whatisdelicious: the original MGS was ported to PC by Microsoft, then MGS2: Substance was released for Xbox, also those HD remasterings of 2, 3 and PW came out recently for 360.

I remember that PC Microsoft MGS port. I was and still am a PC gamer first, so that was the first time I played through MGS after spending an afternoon at a buddy's house and watching him play like 4 hours of the PlayStation version on a TV. That PC port was hella weird because as I recall, it had a "Very Easy" difficulty that the PlayStation version didn't have and in it, Snake had a silenced SMG with infinite ammo at all times. Kind of overkill. I also think I tried to go back years later and none of the cool real life movies ran if you had the screen resolution set at anything higher than 800x600.

I was young and dumb at the time, but now since I have a PS3, I've got the PSN Classic version of MGS so I can play it the way god (Hideo Kojima) intended. On a PS3 emulating a PS1, of course.

MGS4 on Xbox would only need about 3 DVDs to make the whole game fit.

First, some of my own backstory with Resident Evil.

I liked Resident Evil 0 through 3. I liked the ones that took place in Raccoon City/the mansion. Liked Outbreak though the online stuff was janky. When Resident Evil turned into the globetrotting adventures of Leon S. Kennedy and friends, I got bored. Code Veronica was okay, but Resident Evil 4 (everybody's favorite) was when I tuned out. It was a technically much better game but I liked Resident Evil because it was zombies in a sleepy Midwestern US city, not Leon S. Kennedy on vacation in Spain.

So, I had a lot of high hopes for Operation Raccoon City. It was a return to Raccoon City, the original outbreak, and you were playing as some mysterious Umbrella badasses. What made this game a must purchase for me was in the GiantBomb QL when they run past the gas station and the price of gas is like $1.69 / gal or something, because obviously the first games took place in 1998 so gas would be way cheaper then. If this game was filled with little touches like that, then I was in.

Unfortunately, this game is awful.

The third-person shooting controls are awful. The weapons are awful. The bosses are awful. The Wolfpack characters suffer from Hideo Kojima-itis where everybody is fucking weird, but some are cool, most are just weirdos. It's a shame, because this game really pays some cool attention to the lore and fiction of the first era of Resident Evil games. It's like the script for the best RE fan fiction ever.

To me, this is the opposite of my personal opinion of RE4. RE4 was technically perfect but I hated the story and setting. I love the story and setting (minus some characters) of Operation Raccoon City, but it's technically a hot mess.

Laugh out loud. I love all the China defenders in this thread.

China has a history of these "rush" buildings falling down. It's not racism or anti-Chinism. The country is in a rush to build build build and they're throwing up this ramshackle buildings in some cases. From the Daily Mail:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1196064/Tumbling-tower-China-Amazing-pictures-13-storey-block-flats-toppled-over.html (pictures inside)

A newly built 13-storey residential building collapsed in Shanghai yesterday, killing one worker.

The block of high-rise flats toppled onto its side in the muddy construction site raising concerns that building safety standards are being overlooked in favour of fast construction in China's rush to modernise.

The building appeared to be almost complete with fitted windows and a finished, tiled facade. Other similar-looking blocks in the same property development were still standing nearby.

Shoddy construction and the use of sub-standard materials is a concern in China's construction sector as the country scrambles to build out cities and finish massive infrastructure projects to keep pace with fast economic growth.

Construction-related accidents last year included the collapse of a steel arch on a new railway bridge, which killed at least seven and a crane which fell on a nursery school killing five.

The collapse of dozens of schools during last year's Sichuan earthquake also led to a wave of public outrage about corrupt officials and construction firms.
You can find a more examples if you Google around.

I can just imagine what would be said on internet message boards if American buildings had a habit of falling down randomly after being built in 15 days.

So ... you are telling us you tried to clean your ear with a match ... hurt yourself to a point where there was blood ... now your hearing is bad on that ear ... your doctor suggested you get that looked after and you think he is an ass? ... Are you serious?

not an ass for his suggestion, but for insisting even if that happened 2 yrs ago.

"I broke my arm once. I didn't get it fixed. Two years later, the doctor was bugging me to get my mangled, horribly deformed arm fixed. What an ass."

This problem is as First World as it fucking gets.

I'd say it's a second world problem since it relates to this person's health and sense of hearing, but not to his financial state. First world problems would be something superfluous like a scratched iPhone paintjob. Then again, even 'the' first world, USA, doesn't have universal healthcare yet... So does that mean USA is second world instead? Or is Romania zero world?

I think it would be a first world problem.

Third World Problem: Can't find a doctor.

Second World Problem: Can't afford a doctor.

First World Problem: Went to the doctor, asshole bugged me when he (god forbid) tried to talk to me about my health.
