I'm a big fan of this one, so much that I paid too much money for this

Drew, while being a fraction of a percent as cool.

Generally quiet, but always ready to slip in a bad joke/pun at the slightest provocation is the primary reason.

Celeste, oddly enough.

I was so terrible at it I couldn't progress at all without turning on all the assists. But then it was literally effortless, basically just straight-up flying through the levels.

So the problem became there wasn't any real point in playing it because it was so mindless.

@dareitus: One of the side quests in the demo she rescues the soldier she was sent to find and he murders the enemy soldier who had been trapped with him and (apparently) saved his life, then throws a grenade into the rubble to trap all the other enemy soldiers to die. He is flippant about war being war when she says what the fuck, then he immediately gets shot and killed by a sniper.

Our protagonist's reaction is basically "well that was a waste of time".

I kind of agreed, but I think not from the same direction they meant.

It's entirely a scene framed as comedic, but a couple hours earlier I was dragged through what I can only describe as a torture corpse pile, watched a friendly person get stabbed in the neck in front of me, then left outside the walls to die. This is the end of the prologue, a section of the game where the protag watches everyone she knows die in front of her then gets sent 30 years in the future to a nightmare eternal war hellscape.

Just massive tonal shifts even in this short amount of time.

I've only played the demo, but it really just feels like Edgelord Andromeda.

Everything is political, because politics is just human interactions. All human interactions are influenced by the society they exist within. Even something as seemingly neutral as a puzzle game where falling blocks form horizontal lines to score is political due to the time and place it was created, the fight over its ownership and legal rights, and the influence it has obtained within the larger art form.

If a game claims to be nonpolitical all it is doing is acting in support of the status quo, which is itself a political statement. A request for games to be nonpolitical is a political statement that says 'I want things to stay the way they are'.

Mercenaries. Of all the "the nemesis system should be used here" games (before we found out it was patented) that one was the top of my list.

2 was a big ol' bummer but I liked 1 so much the fondness remains.

Gamepass on PC is the best deal in video games. If there are games on it that one hasn't played then it's almost a no-brainer to subscribe for a month, play as many as one wants, and then just cancel it.

I've subscribed a few times and never had a problem with the application.

Dan saying Witcher 3 wasn't great and that he's having more fun with Cyberpunk had me nodding in agreement.

They both have structural problems, and Cyberpunk is busted as fuck on consoles, but I like the story more and I also like V more than Geralt.

Totally agree. I love Witcher 3 but I've never been able to finish that game. The story doesn't do it for me, and V is absolutely a better character than Geralt. I also liked it when Dan said that. It seems to me though that Mary hasn't even played the game and is just joining in on the hate CDPR for Cyberpunks marketing campaign and that one soda you can buy in the game.

CDPR deserves scorn for their marketing campaign and that one soda that is advertised almost literally everywhere in the entire game world.

The story and characters being great doesn't make up for that, their labor practices, or the disastrous state of the game on launch for consoles. The game deserved the discussion it had and it deserved to then be removed from the list entirely.
