@ItBeStefYo: Very much so, but I haven't got the very "Mystical" skills yet, like Magic Cannon. Right now, I'm having a blast just enchanting my shield and countering monster's attacks. I'd say it'll start off pretty boring for you, but around vocation 4 or 5, you can learn the more magical skills, and you might like those.

Level 10 an getting to the capital is a little low, so go back toward the Encampment and kill some wolves and Goblins. You'd be surprised how much easier leveling up makes the game.

And that is why video games exist. It's a single player game, who cares if he never meets the duke?

I haven't even seen screen tearing. I must be one of the lucky ones.

I'm going with me as a Mystic Knight, my main pawn is a Strider, and the support pawns I hired are a support Mage (with healing), and a Sword 'n' Board Warrior, who....isn't tanking, per say, but does have the Shield Drum skill. We're a melee focused party, but my Strider has Ensnare, and usually the Mage has Ingle for long range fights.

It is terrible game design, simple as. If anything, it actually makes the world seem smaller in scope because of how often I'm forced to retread the same environments to get where I may need to go. Yes, you can buy rift stones, but they're relatively expensive and of course they only take you to the one place. I would accept the pricing if they would at least let you use them to travel anywhere instead of just the capital. Furthermore, I would much more forgiving if I'm not forced to take a small break waiting for my stamina bar to recharge over and over.

I think you're confusing "Terrible game design" with "Something I don't like about this game."

Bad game design would be having the camera go haywire when rotating it too fast, or clipping through terrain/walls.

Don't get me wrong, you're free to hate on whatever you want, just make sure you actually know what it is.

I never really understood why everybody is comparing this to Skyrim. It's kinda unfair.

Think about it: Skyrim is Bethesda's 5th Elder Scrolls game, they've had a long time to find out what works and what doesn't. Dragon's Dogma is a first time game, it doesn't know what does and doesn't work yet, so why are we comparing the expert veteran to the new player that just stepped out onto the field?

I love my pawn. I modeled her after my best friend, and she wanted to use daggers and bow, so Ranger she is! I made her...probably too pretty, in my opinion, but I love it XD. Inclination wise, she's pretty smart, mostly. She uses AoE and blinds in groups, she focuses on weaker enemies, and helps me if I get pinned or grabbed. The one thing I hate, though, is she knocks people away as I'm dashing toward them, causing me to whiff. But, a minor flaw.

For anyone who didn't know, if you're on the 360 you can actually have more than one character. You can save one character to your harddrive, one to the xbox itself, one to cloud storage, and any additional characters can be saved to a usb. I keep remaking characters though, it's a problem I have hahaha

Quoting for emphasis, this is a wonderful thing that circumnavigates the "Only one character" problem.

A pain maybe, but awesome to. Tempted to pick Dragon's Dogma up but hearing so many mixed messages, some seems to hate it with a passion and others are enjoying it a great deal. Worth checking out?

Definately worth checking out to see for youself, if you are generally into Fantasy RPGs that is. If you enjoyed games like Dragon Age or Skyrim, you got a good chance you'll like Dragon's Dogma as well.

Dragon's Dogma has almost nothing in common with Dragon Age or Skyrim (apart from an open world). The closest comparisons I can think of are Dark Souls and Monster Hunter.

Anyway, I would definitely recommend it.

Varied classes/weapon types?

Party system?

RPGs?

Real time combat?

I'm pretty sure comparing the 3 franchises in terms of mechanics is pretty accurate.

Also, OP, that was amazing. You actually used "aught" in a believable way.
